I just happened to have homemade left over beans and Texas style brisket. Who would've thought! This is really good! I ran out of bacon so I substituted a link of sausage. I also tried the rum recommendation. My husband heard I was making this and is now hurrying home for dinner.

I hosted a party of 30 people serving brisket, beans, pulled pork, and salads. The brisket and beans were a hit. Gone in no time. I used a little less than 2 cups BBQ sauce though.

Totally Awesome!! I spent the last 11 months in Texas trying lots of great brisket. This equals any of them! Only change I made was to finish it in a 225 degree oven after the initial 4 hours. It is literally fork tender, melt in your mouth brisket!

For the beans, I substituted molasses for the honey and used 1/2 cup stock and 1/2 cup dark rum. It wasn't dry at all. A bit soupy, in fact. Upped the beans to 3 cans and that solved the problem.

Super good. A little too sweet but I guess that all depends on which BBQ sauce you use.

Very good beans! Although I did not have the brisket pieces, these beans had a lot of flavor. I also used a bbq sauce that was a little on the sweet side. It turned out great but a little too sweet so next time I will get a sauce a little more tangier or smokier. VERY GOOD!

I made these today and they are so good. I didn't put the burnt ends in and I used Famous Dave's Texas Pit BBQ sauce. This gave the beans a little spicey kick and they were wonderful. My 81 year old Dad and 75 year old Mom loved them so much they took the left overs home with them. LOL!! Try the brisket recipe too you won't be sorry.

I tried this for the 4th - I didn't have the little pieces of brisket, so I couldn't enjoy the full flavor. Also didn't have Bobby's bbq sauce - maybe the one I used was too sweet? Great flavor, enjoyable, but a little too sweet... go easy on the sugar!
