Between the rub and the slaw my mouth was on fire! I actually think it was the slaw that set my mouth a blaze, which then kind of tainted the chicken for me. I did still like both and will make again, however, next time I will use less of the rub - 2T/breast is too much. I used boneless/skinless which may have been my problem, if you were using skin on, it may not have been as intense. Also, the slaw was really good but way too hot for my taste - despite the fact I only used 1.5 serranos - ribs and seeds removed. Next time I will try the slaw with one serrano or maybe just a half. I think with those adjustments next time it will be great. The vinegar sauce on the chicken was delicious and the I like the fact the the slaw is not in heaps of mayo - the cilantro is key!

Fantastic! I could not find the ancho or pasilla, so I substituted chipotle instead. It was a huge hit (a bit on the spicy side...but a good spice. I also made the vinegar sauce, which was great with it. Will make again!

I made this for myself and my mom. She LOVED IT! Instead of the onion slaw I did some sautéed green beans with sliced almonds, as well as some garlic an rosemary roasted red potatoes.

My the dressing really went well with the chicken as well as the potatoes. Defiantly going to be a family favorite.

A family favorite - they just keep asking for it again, and again (we skip the Green Onion Slaw, as the kids don't care for it. As the name is a bit much to remember, they simply refer to it as, "The Really Yummy Chicken". The only downside is that it has given me pause about what they must think of the other chicken recipes I use. :-s

This was outrageous. My husband & I loved it!! We are going to try the left over sauce on pork chops this week.

My husband and I make a bunch of the rub ahead of time just to keep on hand for a quick, tasty dinner. It has worked well on boneless skinless chicken breast as well as skin-on bone-in thighs. And of course the meal wouldn't be complete without the vinegar sauce!

The chicken rub was excellent and the brown sugar helped it stick to the chicken nicely. I thought I would need more sauce, but a little of this tasty stuff goes a long way. The slaw was a very pleasant surprise. I am not a slaw fan, but I ate every bit of this. I love the kick that the serranos gave it and the cilantro was a perfect addition. Two big thumbs up.

This meal was a delight! Yes, it was labor intensive, but you are left with extra spice rub which will keep for some time. The slaw was fresh and light; my new absolute favorite! Left over mutard sauce also made a delicious slaw later in the week--- so all that work paid off!

I tried to follow this recipe the best I could, but I did improvise a little bit on the spices. I used most of what it called for, but I threw in a few things I had around the house. I used skinless chicken breast too. I think the sauce is the best part of this dish. It was a hit at the last barbecue I was at!
