Just perfect! the only caveat was that the skins were tearing off and potatoes seem to be slightly undercooked and hard to mash. So I put them a few minutes in the microwave. Agreed to use "real" maple syrup, a key ingredient. Pouring everything in a casserole dish instead of the skins and it turned out just great! A big success!

I can't wait to make this again this year. The only downside to serving this last year was that there weren't any leftovers.

Excellent. You will never go back to that sweet concoction with brown sugar and marshmallows again. Just watch the amount of cream and other additions. Add cautiously, but keep in mind that the mixture will seem a little loose, but it firms up when cooking in oven. Everyone loves these and you can make it as hot and smokey as you want with more or fewer chipotle peppers, but don't skip this ingredient as it is the key to the dish. Try to use creme fraishe and not sub with regular sour cream as it really makes the difference. Use real maple syrup, not that high fructose corn syrup stuff. I skip stuffing the skins and just pour it in a casserole dish.

I made the potatoes for Christmas Eve. They were a hit. We now make this dish as a casserole
and serve anytime we want mashed sweet potatoes. Much better than the sweet versions.

We had these potatoes with our crown roast of pork for Christmas dinner. Try baking one small white potatoe along with the sweet potatoe. Rice it along with the sweet potatoe and blend. Really makes a big difference in the texture and taste. By the way I made these potatoes two days ahead and froze them. No problem at all.

We didn't notice the available video until after we tried to make this recipe. The ingredient quantities in the recipe are not even close to what is used in the video. To say our mixture was a little loose would be an understatement. In the video he barely uses a half-cup of the cream mixture, maybe two or three table spoons of butter and perhaps a heaping spoonful of the creme fraiche. Might try this again with dramatically reduced quantities - in my opinion the recipe is horrible and inaccurate. Wish I had read other reviews before attempting. Threw out the whole lot.

Your food is always excellent. This is just another example. I've eaten at the Mesa Grill and it was love at first bite. Even before the Neelys came on that was my catch phrase. Excellent is what these potatoes are so so yummy!

I tried this recipie and it was wonderful! It definitely has a high filling to potato ratio, but if you watch that - delicious! even for people who "hate" sweet potatoes. The spicy to sweet ratio is right on.

Also, the recipe is Vegetarian Not Vegan. I am a strict vegetarian and while my diet isn't "healthy" all of the time, I make sure that by the end of the day I have balanced everything out. But I do eat butter, sour cream, cheese, eggs, etc. and that's ok and many vegetarians feel the same way. Anyone choosing to be a vegetarian and vegan would know by looking at the ingredients whether this was for them or not. Just a "normal" vegetarian putting my two cents in.
