Absolutely delicious in fact I took the leftovers the next day for lunch & if possible it was even better after sitting in the sauce. I have always loved lentils but had them only in soup. This has definitely converted my way of thinking by adding this as a starch with other meals. In fact what if you used different beans instead? Might be an idea. The next time I want to try subistuting the veal with chicken or pork. I think that would be a great dish too!

Tried this for the first time. The lentils and veal were succulent...the effect of the wine in flavoring the lentils obvious - make sure that you do not allow the lentils to get too dry. The shallot sauce was wonderful.

One of the initial attractions of the recipe was the Broccoli Rabe, which is a favorite vegetable in this home, BUT the pairing was not particularly supportive of the veal. We also made a side of roasted beets based upon a Ina Garten recipe which we believe would be a better accompianment if limiting yourself to one vegetable.
