I want to make this. I know it'll come out rather well. And just watching Brain make it, is so simple. I just need to know is there a substitute for the almond paste? I and a few members of my family are allergic to this nut.

Made the whole meal plan and it all came out great!! Couldn't believe it was so simple after watching Brian do it. I hadn't ever used almond paste. What a great secret way to whip up a quick tart that tastes like it was hard to make. Loved all of it!!

I printed out the recipe the day I saw the show, but never had reason to make it until now. I made it for a very small dinner party last night and it was FABULOUS! The top browned before the bottom cooked fully, so next time I might cover the edges with foil so that the bottom can finish cooking without burning the top. I made a half-recipe as there were only 4 of us, and the almond paste was $10/tube (the original recipe called for 2 tubes. I think that even making 4 of them out of one tube they were too big. We ended up cutting them in half and serving half to each guest (which was fine, because now I have leftovers. I'd say maybe 6 would be the perfect amount for 1 tube, though you could go as small as 8 of them if you just want a sweet nibble. I did eat part of the leftovers for breakfast today (don't judge - it is fruit and almonds and cream cheese - probably better than any donut ; and I must say that it was not nearly as good the 2nd day (taste was great, but it was soggy. They are fabulous right out of the over though. I pre-rolled out the paste and whipped up the filling before the guests arrived and left it all in the frige...then once we had cleared the dinner dishes I assembled them and had them in the over in less than 5 minutes.

First time I've caught Brian's show and had to make the crostata immediately! We all love it. Plus the Coq au Vin-Guine is in the frig wating to be served for dinner with friends tonight. Good job, Brian!

I am guilty of watching Food Network but I must admit I rarely actually make the recipes. The Pear and Almond Crostata looked so good I actually went to the store, bought pears and almond paste and made the recipe. My kitchen smelled heavenly. Me and my family loved the crostatas. Who knows, I may even try to cook something else.

I made these after seeing Brian's show. People at work thought I bought them at a bakery. They were fairly simple to make and SO delicious! I'm making them again today because one of my friends who tasted them before requested them for dessert at her party = Highly recommendable!

I made this last night. Everyone loved it. I followed the easy recipe but used whipped cream cheese as this is all I had. It was creamy (like a yogurt consisency. I look forward to seeing more recipes from Brian Bolitano. He is a riot. I love his show!

Had a luncheon for golfing group and this was one of the deserts that I served with Cherry Garcia Ice Cream and toasted almonds on top.
Could not believe the raves from all, even people who said they don't like
    fruity deserts.
Easy to roll out the almond paste if you get good paste. Had to make 12 so I had to purchase 3 cans. One was not the same brand as the other two and was a bit surgarie around the edges. Still worked but was harder to cut and roll.
    Will make this one again.

Ok, I haven't cooked this recipe yet, but I'm wondering, has Brian Boitano's show been canceled? I haven't seen it since this last recipe. That would suck, being that in my opinion is one of the best shows Food Network has. Could someone be kind enough to give me some info, maybe anyone out there knows more than I.
