Wow! this was an amazing soup. I rendered the bacon a bit longer to make it a bit crisper, but everyone who got to try it was in love. And the cheese toasts were killer. The Dijon adds just the right unexpected kick to this side. I had to make a double batch of them because we kept fighting over them.

I really enjoyed this soup! I love too cook, but I'm not that experienced so this recipe was very straight forward..and delicious! My husband even enjoyed it and he does not like broccoli! That says a lot :

I made this recipe to a tee, it was pretty delicious, the only thing I did not like is when a recipe calls for bacon cooked in the soup and not removed before adding liquid even if you have cooked the bacon to a crisp it gets rubbery and a little too chewy for my taste, that is my onlycomplaint with this recipe so next time I will remove the bacon after cooking to a crisp, and put it in at the end on top, otherwise amazing!

Quick and tasty. While the broth was not quite thick enough to merit "chowder" designation in my mind, I did not find it to be too thin, perhaps because I used a starchier Russett potato. Worth writing down.

This is a very simple recipe and easy to add things to to jazz up, depending on your tastes! I've added shredded chicken breast and corn to it and it's delicious. It's definitely a recipe that needs tailored to your taste buds, though.

This soup is pretty basic, but can be jazzed up easily. A couple of dashes of pepper sauce like Tobasco. I also use a little extra bacon because I like the smokey flavor. This is a go to soup for us because it is easy to change up the ingredients or add new ones.

How is this listed in a meatless main when it contains bacon and chicken broth?!

I would worry about a recipe that makes bacon taste bad. I love FN, but please try a Giada recipe and save your money..this recipe tastes like milk. Maybe try spices(fresh ones? or whole milk?

Don't waste your time. This soup has no flavor whatsoever.

I tried this after being disappointed by a 'gruyere and broccoli soup' from the site, and picked this chowder to get rid of the bland taste that it left as well as finish off the leftover ingredients in my fridge. I used maple bacon (all I had instead of regular, but followed the rest of the recipe to a 't'. The maple gave the soup a hint of sweetness (which I loved and the consistency was perfect. I was also afraid the potatoes wouldn't be cooked through, but they were perfect, too. This is a total keeper.
