This was my first sweet potato pie. It came out sooo good. All my life i watch my grandmother put flour in her pie to hold it together. I was impress at the fact the recipe call for no flour and it held together just fine. I did use condense sweet milk instead of evaporated and i didnot use allspice (i couldnt fine it in the store.

I made this pie for thanksgiving and it was great, I'm glad that I read a few of the review's first. I used 1/2c of sugar instead of 1/4c and I used vegatable steamer to cook my sweet potatoes. I made two pies from this recipe and I made my own whole wheat pie crust. Can you say yummmmm. I will make this again and again.

I agree it was lumpy. Instead of baking the potatoes boil them, then mash just like regular mashed potatoes. I did have to add more of the flavoring ingredients to taste. Try that.

MMMmm! I sure do love sweet yams! I like big yams the best! I usually take the yams out and butter them up with my hands, Then rub the yams so as they are firm but soft. Next I follow the recipe up til where you cream the butter and sugars. I usually add the yams first, then cream on top of them. This recipe is soo tasty! Thanks Calley!

This was my first sweet potato pie ever!!! It was awesome. I read some of the other reviews and made some tweaks. I did use the condensed milk instead of evaporated milk. I baked the sweet potatos for 90 minutes instead of a hour. And one tweak I made on my own was i used 3 large potatos instead. BUT... in the words of Mo'Nique... BAABY!!.. This was the bomb!!!

This was just a wonderful turnout...
I used 4 medium sweet potatoes and the filling comes out to be enough for 2 pie crusts
I tweaked it by adding 2 1/4 cup of sugar instead of the 3/4 cup
and also I used 1/2 cup of sweetened condensed milk instead of the evaporated milk

for the cinnamon allspice and nutmeg I used 1 teaspoon each

also i baked the sweet potatoes for an hour and a half to make them softer
both pies were gone the same night

Thank you so much for sharing this recipe! Before I took it to the in-laws for the Holidays I did a pre-run of it. My family thought it was amazing. My 3yr old son was sneaking bites of the mix before I even got it in the oven to bake. The Maple whip topping was a huge hit. This is definitely going to be added as one of our traditional Holiday foods. Everyone was sad when it was gone and asked how long would it take to make another.

The recipe was ok for a sweet potato pie. This was the first time I made a pie anyway. It did need to be tweaked as it did come out mushy the first time. As someone else stated, we had to cook them an extra 30 to 45 min. Tonight, I will make another, but use sweetened condensed milk instead and try baking the potatoes. Most people say they boil them. AUNTIE, PLEASE DON'T FOLLOW THE RECIPE EXACTLY!!!!!!!! READ THE REVIEWS AND DON'T WASTE A GOOD POTATO!

I made this pie for Thanksgiving, w/o the Maple Topping. I read previous reviews and used sweetened condensed milk instead of regular evaporated milk. When it came to the spices I added according to taste, but I would estimate that I probably doubled all of them. The pies came out great. Thanks to the previous reviewers for the good advice!
