In the age of bread machines it's nice to have a simple recipe like this that you can make by hand . The bread stays more moist if you wrap it in plastic or foil almost right after it comes out of the oven .

Sometimes you can get away with substitutions. But I didn't read very well on this one, especially where they said SELF-RISING flour. Considering my ``loaf'' grew to the grand height of about two inches, I'll make sure to get it right next time.
But it still tasted good :

This bread is great and couldn't have been easier. I used a cheap beer (Milwaukee's Best since I don't drink beer and the bread was still delicious! This recipe is a keeper. So simple! My husband even liked it. Tip - be sure to add the butter at the end, or you will end up with a crusty top instead of a soft buttery one.

This recipe could not be easier. The only thing I did is pour warm butter over it with about 10 mins remaining. This browned the bread re***y wekk and soaked in with a rich buttery taste.

    AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!

This bread is wonderful, I had to freeze half to stop myself from eating it all in 1 day. I used half the sugar.

I've made this 5 times since I watched the show. When invited to friends for dinner I am required to bring beer bread! Great taste and simple to make! Bravo from another resident of the show me state!
