I made this pie soon after the episode and took it to a luncheon with our church - it was such a hit! I had someone ask me, "you made this and you hadn't even tried it yourself? That's pretty risky." I didn't think about it but it was a risk worth taking. I've made it several times for family dinners and everyone loves it. The taste reminds me of a caramel apple. It's yummy! Thank you Kendra!

This apple pie is delish! It does take some time to make and it is messy, but OMG it is so darn good! I made this pie 3 yrs ago...and couldn't find the recipe print out...so I knew it would still be here on the FoodNetwork! Like the others reviews, it is messy, but so worth every bite.....enjoy!

This pie is a little bit of work, and a little bit of mess, but incredible. I make it every year for Thanksgiving, and the topping and sauce make it really something special. Definitely put a baking tray under your pie plate, and perhaps line that with aluminum foil. The sauce will drip down and make a mess. Also, watch out when eating what falls on that aluminum, my dad snitched some last year and lost a crown. It is still totally worth it, and I'm about to make this year's pie!

I actually made this recipe about 4 years ago when the channel first aired the little girl making this pie. It looked so good I had to try it. I haven't made it since only because I live in the middle of nowhere but it was out of this world. I am now soon to be married and am particularly excited about making this pie this winter season. You really need to have a baking pan under it or a really deep pie pan or cut back on the syrup though. It really does make a sticky pain in the keister mess to clean up in the oven! For anyone with a really determined mind set try making your own pie crust. It really is so much better than the prefabricated kind you get out of the store. This pie also pares up well with a pumpkin pie made the old fashioned way. THAT is an all american line up for the christmas season.

Before I made this apple pie, I did not like apple pie. My husband didn't like apple pie either. For some reason, I gave the recipe a try after seeing it on TV. I have been making it for years!!!!! I get soooo many compliments on it every single time I make it. I saw that some people said it was messy, but I didn't find it messy. Just make sure you put the pie on a pan in the oven to preven spills. I love, love, love this apple pie. It is really not all that hard to make. I wish I could find out if Kendra had any other receipes she was working on.

This is the best apple pie I've ever tasted. I actually craved apple pie which is something I rarely do.

However, perhaps my own fault, but the pie was very messy. I could only fit 5 apples into my pie, and there was way too much syrup imho. I think next time, I would lather the apples in the syrup mixture and then put the apples in the pie, to get rid of excess syrup. Total cooking time for the pie filling and topping was 45 minutes so be careful like the others have suggested.

Great recipe. My family loved it. 45 minutes was enough time though for my oven and if I would have put it in for another 10 minutes it would have burned.

This pie recipe is great! The topping really makes this pie stand out. I added maple syrup instead of light corn syrup to the topping and it really made a difference. This is a definitely must-keep recipe

I am not a fan of apple pie, but this is an exception. It was absolutely delicious, and so easy to make.
    It's a rave everytime I make it.
