Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup egg substitute
  • 1/2 pound okra, cut into 1-inch lengths
  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper

Directions

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

Pour egg substitute into a medium bowl. Add okra and toss to combine. In a large resealable plastic bag, combine both types of bread crumbs, salt, and pepper. Shake to combine well. Add the okra and egg substitute mixture to the bag and shake until coated.

Place a wire rack on top of a cookie sheet. Arrange okra on rack and bake until crisp, about 10 minutes.

    Best Non Fried Okra Ever

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
This is very tasty with good texture. I didn't miss the "friedness" of fried okra. It was easy to clean up, no frying mess... or smell. Thanks for another recipe that makes eating healthier more satisfying!Read more

I love fried okra but deny myself the fat. Thank you so much for giving me an alternative!

I never had okra before so this was a new flavor experience. I like Juans recipes, but didn't care for the taste of okra.

    Very Good

This is the best "oven fry" anything I've ever done. I used a coating of cornmeal, regular breadcrumbs, and crushed saltines... (it was what I had) and it came out well breaded and very crunchy.Read more

This only took minutes to mix together and absolutely no time at all to cook in the oven. Came out great! Was a big hit with... everyone, especialy me because you don't have the mess that you have with frying to clean up and this is a very tasty and healthy alternative!!! We loved it!Read more
