I have made this several times and everyone seems to enjoy it. I use mini chocolate chips instead of chunk chocolate as we like the smaller pieces.

Had the whole family for the holidays. Everyone absolutely thought this was the best ice cream they had ever had... and so easy to make. Next time, I'm going to melt chocolate into the mixture to make it chocolate ice cream.

I have to say that the base for this ice cream is one of the best I have ever had. The vanilla bean makes all the difference. The recipe did not include instructions on how to use the additional 1/4 cup sugar so I added it to the egg yolk before adding the cream mixture. You could stir in about anything you wanted to this ice cream but the chocolate and banana are delicious. Thanks for the recipe!

I have tried quite a few ice crea, recipies since I got an ice cream maker for Christmas and this one was by far the best one I tried. I added walnuts to mine and it tasted a little like "Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey"
