Yum...I also 1/2'd the recipe...I have a mini-scone pan from W/S, so I didn't want to have the dough sitting around. I probably used btw. 1/2-3/4 amt. of dill. I just bought one of the pkg. from store & used all of it for the half recipe...I didn't think it was too much...I love dill tho. I did do one bob-boo. I grabbed some cheese in a hurry...thought it was smoked cheddar. When I was chopping it up I noticed it was a weird consistency...it said "cheese food product" UGH!!! I still made them & they tasted good, but the "cheese" didn't melt as well :, so I'm sure with "cheese"...they would have been even better!! Live & Learn...

Delicious! I halved this recipe which can be risky while baking but the scones turned out perfectly--just the right amount of dill, also, to add that extra spark of freshness. They also looked beautiful, as well...especially with the egg wash. Ina's recipes are the best...thanks Ina!

Best scone on the face of the earth!!! I used to go to the "Barefoot Contessa" store in East Hampton, New York, and enjoyed everything she offered, but I cannot forget these scones - delish!!

hate to review without trying...but it's the only way I can put it in my recipe box - keep getting temporarily out of service...anyone else?

The texture of these scones are amazing! Nothing like any scone I've ever had. I only gave it four stars because the dill flavor was a little too much for my taste, so I would add less next time. I'm wondering if I were to use this recipe to make chocolate chip scones, would I need to add sugar to the recipe? If so, would I need to add or reduce anything else?

I usually love Barefoot Contessa but was really dissapointed in this scone. I chose not to add dill and added canadian bacon instead for a ham and cheese scone, which I realize changed the recipe however even the 'base' doughy part of the scone is not good.

These were SO easy and SO delicious! I know sometimes people change-up a recipe and though I usually follow to the letter, I wanted to make these more 'breakfast-like. So, I added chopped, cooked bacon. Yum! I also used 1/2 & 1/2 rather than heavy cream and finely sliced scallions rather than dill because it's what I had on hand. Nice to know that I can use Ina's PERFECT basic scone recipe and toss whatever 'addd-ins' I want to custom fit my occasion/menu!

I'm not much of a baker, but I stumbled through this really not so difficult recipe. Followed it exactly, except cut it in half. These scones were second best thing I ever put in my mouth (second only to Ina's lemon bars!. Seriously, these scones are absolutely wonderful. Even mine had a wonderful texture and yummy cheesy flavor. Great with any meal.
