Ingredients

  • 1 box macaroni and cheese
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella

Directions

Pre-heat oven to 450 degrees F.

Prepare macaroni and cheese as indicated on box. Set aside.

In a skillet, add ground beef and onion, season with salt and pepper. Brown meat and drain grease. Mix beef, onions, macaroni and cheese, and Italian seasoning in a shallow baking dish. Top with shredded mozzarella and cheddar. Bake until cheese is melted.

    I agree this recipe could be bland as is. I altered the recipe, after reading the reviews, by sauteing the onions and added peppers (any color, diced tomatoes (I used fresh, steak seasoning, dried parsley, and a lot more Italian seasoning. I increased the milk to make it creamier. I mixed about 1/2 the beef into the pasta and then put the rest on top. I also added chopped pickles on top to please my daughter, but I'd likely leave those out next time. Then I topped it with cheese and stuck it in the oven. Not bad!

    I would've sauteed the peppers separately next time to get them softer. The flavor really is a little bland. Won't make it again.
