AMAZINGLY EASY!!! So tasty. I made with pecans/walnuts. I cant stop eating it. I heated candy to just under 280 without problem. Much easier to chew than brittle and I LOVE me some peanut brittle. (my picky friend who doesn't like candy loves it! Thank you Stan Strickland and Paula Deen!!!

This recipe is also good with graham crackers, ritz crackers, butter cookies, etc. The list goes on and on.

I overcooked the "toffee" in my first try because the written instructions are incorrect. I watched the show again and they said on the show 180, not 280. Paula took off heat at 166.
FN, please ammend the recipe to show 180 or you'll have a lot of unhappy people with hard as a rock toffee mixture.

I just watched the show, and I am 99% positive that they said it should be heated to 180 degrees, not 280, I believe Paula took it off the heat at around 166 degrees. Also, Stan did not divide the almonds.

I am embarrassed to say this but I didn't time heating the chocolate and my thermometer never reached 280. But the next thing I knew there was smoke and a ruined mass which I threw in the woods for the raccoons. Next time I will time for around 7 minutes and forget the thermometer.

I never made "candy" before, but it seemed so easy, so I gave it a try! My thermometer never made it to 280 but it was around 7 minutes so I took it off the heat. I used glazed pecans instead, it was excellent and so so easy! I will definitely make again! However, it did take longer than 20 minutes to set.

I believe that this is most simple recipe that I have ever made. So easy that I made it for our superbowl party today and it only took 15 minutes. Tastes great too. Going to use dry roasted peanuts next time for a different taste.

Yay for being the first to review this! The ingredient list and recipe were so simple, I'd thought I would go for it. I didn't have a candy thermometer, so I just kept it low and followed the "about 7 minute" instruction because I'd rather have it a bit soft than hard. It turned out even better than I had hoped! I love that the caramel has a rich, buttery flavor because it goes great with the chocolate and nuts. Really easy, and nummy :
