These were stunningly good! I particularily liked the dense brownie-like texture. I could not recall the brand of the mix Giada used so bought Ghiradelli's...even more chocolate chips! It was almost like eating a dense lava cake. Too bad I did not think to take ice cream to the potluck where these were served. AWESOME!!!

I read all the reviews too I added 1/2 cup chopped simi-sweet chocolate chips( I did not have the minis with the 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts in the brownie mix.. I think that cut down the richness. The frosting is wonderful! I would make these again and again. I would even use the frosting recipie for her desserts! I never used macapone cheese before but now I'm a fan. Thanks Giada! I'm hoping I will score" BROWNIE" points with my hubby. ;

After I read through the reviews, I followed many of the suggestions and warnings. I added an extra egg and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder, decreased the amount of chocolate chips in half, bought a regular vs. fudge brownie mix and they turned out like regular cupcakes with the puffy tops. It was not overly sweet or rich. They tasted fine without the frosting, that might make them too sweet. I highly recommend this recipe, it was quick and easy, and you'll have to resist eating more than one.

I loved these cupcakes! I do agree that they are a bit rich though. I recommend eating just half at a time. Goes great with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream! Thanks, Giada, for another fantastic recipe to add to my collection. :

Ok...before making these I read all of the reviews and decided to add 1/4 teaspoon baking powder to take care of the hard edges reviewers complained about. They came out wonderfully with a slight concave on top that was great for the icing to sit in.
These are extremely rich and decadant and terribly easy to make. I made them last night and ate one before bed and could not sleep the entire night. I then took the rest to Bible class and the big guys in there had a hard time eating past two bites. They came to me after and said they were way too rich. Its true. I refrigerated what was left and just cut one in half, and that was more than enough.
Next time I will make them in mini muffin cups, and only bake them for about 15-20 minutes. If you stomach is easily upset, I would stay away from the punch of these cupcakes.

I loved these cupcakes, but they were VERY rich! I couldn't find a 21 oz box so I used a 19.5 oz box. If I used this size again I would not use the chewy fudge type of brownie. I would just use a regular brownie mix. This way they might not be sooooooo rich. Other than that, the icing is great and I like how easy these were to make.

The cupcake stuck to the paper. Way to sweet, and heavy and hard. I do not recomend this recipe. This is the only recipe of Giada's that I have tried that did not work.

These cupcakes came out amazing! I was very pleased at the results and at how easy it was to make! They were very moist and delicious!
My cupcakes did not come out hard at all. I made sure to get a 21 oz box of brownie mix, and I find that was kind of limited in my grocery store (I live in a big city and went to a large grocery store chain with about 20 varieties of brownie mixes, but few 21 oz boxes. The timing was perfect, and you do have to almost fill the cups to the top with the batter, as brownies do not rise as much as cakes do.
I piled on the frosting with some to spare. If you do not want as much, I would not add the full 3 cups of powdered sugar.
I would definitely make these again!

The cupcakes were so hard around the edges that I had to trim them off all the way around..by the time I finished that I was left with just the center! I made quite a mess and was left with a square tall cookie! I will say the frosting was very good. I wanted to have these for my son when he got home from his first day on his summer job. I'm sure he will like the, but the presentation is not so pretty!

The flavor was great!! The cupcake was as hard as a rock. I used Betty Crocker Brownie Mix as that was the only one our store had (live in a small town. Had to cook alot longer than 22min. Maybe it was my choice of brownie mix. I am a pretty good cook so I was shocked at the outcome. I followed the recipe exactly. Don't know what happened. The frosting was pretty soft. The flavor was very good. Don't think I will try again. It did sound really good.
