This will be my third year making this recipe. It has been a big hit with my sisters because the rum balls taste just like the ones our mom used to make. I add a bit more rum and also roll them in finely chopped pecans (because that's how mom used to do it!! Rum balls should be made at least a week before you want to eat them. They improve with age.

Very good. I halved the recipe. Melted the chocolate in the microwave, added the butter, stirred till melted in added the rum then stirred in the sugar . Yes I used my hands to roll into a ball. I rolled the rum balls in finely chopped pecans instead. Very Good!

Thanks to the two reviewers who warned that the written directions were incorrect I knew to take the melted chocolate and pour that mixture into the bowl with the sifted sugar....worked perfectly and these were so easy to make! Absolutely delicious and the perfect gift - I used Xmas sprinkles instead of the chocolate ones and they looked super festive (you do need alot of sprinkles though!. Also agree that they get even better the longer you leave them in the fridge. Will be making these on a regular basis!!

I was so excited about making these, but most will be thrown out. The recipe is just not right. There is way too much sugar and not enough chocolate or rum. They taste like bad truffles. What a bummer. I made Emeril's rum balls, much better.

I made this recipe weeks after I watched on tv and hadnt done my homework and the great review with the right directions. So when I got my chocolate melted with the butter I naturally started adding the sugar over the double boiler. It got very stiff with every addition of the sugar and I began to get nervous. fortunately all was well. I added a bit more maybe a tablespoon more room but it only made it better I think I would slip and add more if I make it again. I am not a candy maker but I think I may start after this...have fun!

Wonderful and easy! Go to the grocery store...buy all recipe ingredients...put away in your cupboard. On a day you need a "boost", take all ingredients, follow the recipe then try to have someone take a photo. Look at the photo and remember the flavors. Happy times! Annie, Fremont, CA

The steps in the recipe are not written the same as shown in her video. Examples: Sift powdered sugar into seperate bowl and set aside. Once chocolate is smooth and butter has been added and melted, remove chocolate mixture from heat - stir in the rum. Then add the chocolate mixture to sifted powdered sugar. Begin stirring with a spoon, but you will probably have to finish mixing with your hands. Dough will be thick and rich! Yum!

These little rum balls are very easy to make!! They are very rich though. We make these for Christmas to give out as gifts, perfect, the kids love rolling them in the sprinkles!!
