OMGoodness...heavenly...fabulous...extraordinaire. We loved it. You do need to make a couple of days in advance if you want a more solid ice cream. This is going to be a part of my St. Patrick's Day luncheon menu for the girls at work. They will go crazy over this wonderful chocolate goodness. The whiskey is not too strong. A must try for those who like chocolate ice cream.

There is no mention in the instructions on when to add the chocolate. But I assumed it was during the same time you mix the cream and vanilla. I did a different version of this. I omitted any of the chocolate and added a 1/4 cup of Kahlua. This came out like the Ben and Jerry's version of White Russian ice cream which they no longer make. Either way they're both excellent. Thanks Daddy.

I, too, noticed the omission in the recipe -- i.e., the chopped semi-sweet chocolate going into the cream mixture. However, it's pretty easy to figure out and I added the chocolate to the warm cream mixture and whisked until it was fully incorporated.

I recorded the episode and didn't watch it prior to making the recipe, so I didn't know about the Cremora (a non-dairy type powder creamer used in coffee, etc.. I don't know the amount of Cremora to be used as of this writing; but, I can see how it would thicken the ice cream during processing -- and, the ice cream did seem a little thinner than usual. But, I'll give it at least 24 hours to ripen and I think it will be fine. The taste is incredible!

This is a very delicious ice cream. It was really easy to make, however when I put it in my ice cream machine it stayed the same consistancy. After spending a day in my freezer, however it was a very rich, soft, yet smooth, eating dessert. It had a nice well balanced flavor, that reminded me of eating a whiskey flavored truffle. I used Knob Creek for my whiskey, which gave it a nice kick.

Michael, it's not that its missing the chocolate in the ingredients, it's that it's missing a step in the directions. Specifically, who TO DO with the chocolate.

It's not hard to figure out, but there is a step missing here:

"In a large saucepan, whisk together cream, vanilla bean, vanilla seeds and 1/4 cup of sugar. Simmer over low heat until the chocolate is melted."

He added something called Cremora which I had never heard of which is why I remember that he used it. I'm not sure how much and it is not listed. Would need to see episode again to see if others are missing.

Aaron did not "stmble". The chocolate ingredient is listed in the Whiskey Ice Cream recipe. It plainlly states toe use 3 ounces chopped semisweet chocolate.
    Great flavor.

You've got a stumble in the description of ingredients that goes in the cream mixture - you forgot to list the chocolate.
