This is easy to make and tastes out of this world. I substituted seasoned pork for the beef as I thought it would taste a little more "italian". You can't beat it as a leftover either.

I made this over the last couple of days. Made the tomato sauce yesterday. Since it didn't say to drain or cut up the whole canned tomatoes, I just dumped the cans into the pot. As the sauce cooked, I would periodically smash the tomotoes against the side of the pot. The resulting sauce had a nice consistency. I used the recommended amount of sugar and found the sauce was too sweet. Next time I will cut the sugar in half, otherwise I was pleased with the sauce.
When making the pasta pie, I didn't have a 10 inch pie pan, instead I used a 10 inch cake pan, (with 3 inch sides. The amount of meat mixture was about right. I coarsely chopped the onions, next time I would make them a little smaller. However, the pasta mixture was too much, Next time I will decrease by about 1/5th.
Overall, I thought it was a succesfull dish, and will make it again.
