First...this is one of the best basic cinnamon cupcake recipes. Very moist and flavorful! Mine made 24 standard cupcakes. For the frosting I realized I had no more strawberry jelly, so I used some of my homemade Bing Cherry, Peach and Vanilla jelly. I know, odd, but it did the trick and the frosting was heavenly! The fruit and maple was wonderful. I'm sure just as good with the strawberry. Not to sweet at all! Perfect! I let the maple syrup/bacon set until a.m. and then chopped in my mini chopper. Highly recommend.

These cupcakes were a hit! Very moist cupcake, similar to a coffee cake flavor, the icing wasn't impressive on it's own, but once on the cupcake it was perfect. The bacon was very hard to drain as the maple syrup caused it to stick to the paper towels and the next day it was chewy and irritating. So use the bacon same day. I had approx 10 people eat these and only one said it was "too sweet".

These cupcakes were interesting and delicious! The maple, bacon and strawberry all went really well together. They were really good the day of, but they did not keep well as the carmelized bacon got soggy in the fridge so I am not sure all the work turned out to be worth it since I didnt bring them to an event where they all got eaten the day of baking.

I do not know what went wrong with these cupcakes, but they flopped in every aspect. First and foremost, the recipe did not make 9 regular cupcakes, it makes 24!!! I filled 9 cupcake liners and I still had a bowl full of batter. Then, they fell in the oven and spread out all over the muffin tin. I made these to go with a different buttercream frosting. I thought they were awful. I threw them out and went back to my favorite vanilla bean cupcakes.

After watching cupcake wars my husband requested these for his birthday. When I brought them out at his party (I didn't tell any one I was making them afraid that people wouldn't try them when someone laughed and said, "That looks like bacon on top!" I looked at my husband. "No!" every one said "I have to try that!" They were a hit! Everyone liked them everything is better with bacon! and I couldn't find maple sugar so I used brown sugar and I used "real" bacon none of this turkey stuff :

I made these cupcakes because I saw the show and they were so different and looked delicious! It's worth the time spent on all the details. I had them for dinner, nothing else, just these cupcakes. I made a few adjustments on the icing only because i didn't have all the ingredients on hand. I will be posting the steps on my facebook page and also a picture on my personal website. The steps sound like they'd be a bit much but if you'll see the pictures, there's not much to them! I highly recommend this recipe, oh, they'll make your entire house smell delicious! Thanks Cupcake Wars!
