ABSOLUTELY THE BEST PIE RECIPE THAT I HAVE TRIED ON FOODNETWORK!!!! EVEN MY KIDS AGREE! I added 3 tablespoons of powdered sugar to my heavy cream for added flavor! I will make this again and again!

Very tasty and easy too! I even burned the crust a little, and everyone still raved about it. One thing I'd say is the bananas turn bad if it sits too long.

FABULOUS! If you can find the Nestle Dulce de Leche (usually next to the sweet condensed milk its even better! Make sure the water comes to a boil, and if you can let it sit for the whole 3 hours just under a boil (add water when needed it will be perfect. Gorgeous color and taste! Instead of making an entire pie, I made individual "pies" in ramekins and it was actually MUCH easier to handle. Bake your grahm cracker crust right in the ramekins and then just layer bananas and toffee like a lasagna. Chill & top with whipped cream. Instant favorite for dinner parites - and if you are into the "new" tasting party concept - this is a fabulous and filling dessert option when made in the little ramekins!

My new go-to pie recipe! I just made it for my father's birthday dinner. He's a big banana cream pie fan, but I wasn't feeling that ambitious today. This was so simple and everyone loved it! I followed the recipe, but made the addition of a touch of ginger to the cracker crust (in another version of this pie. Either way this is a simple, delicious and crowd-pleasing pie. I highly recommend it.

I started the cans in cold water, brought up to a boil like the show stated to, brought it back down to a simmer (from what I was trained to look for in the actual water. Both cans of SWEETENED condensed milk and both came out beautifully. The reason it's important to get it sweetened is that the sugar content will help make the toffee. If you get regular condensed, or evaporated milk, you wont get the toffee like substance as in the show and directions clearly state. For this reason, as well as some not knowing the difference between simmer in the water vs simmer on the knob are, I feel that the difficulty rating might need to be adjusted as some have issues. I let it sit for the full hour in the fridge, and ooooooh my was it delicious. Don't try it unless you love fresh banana, as the flavor will permeate through out the pie. Why some people would try it and suggest something else when they know they don't like fresh is beyond my comprehension. Fresh vs non, makes a difference.

This pie is wonderful! My family really enjoyed it! I took off one star because it is more time consuming than it needs to be. Instead of 'simmering' a can of condensed milk for 3 hours, which I did the first time, only to be disappointed because it was still condensed milk, it was only after I read the reviews I found out I should have BOILED the can for 3 hours, not simmer as the recipe states. Also, after reading the reviews, I went out and bought Nestle's Dulce De Leche, warmed it in the microwave to make it spreadable and put it on the pie. Don't like fresh bananas so I used instant banana pudding instead with store bought graham cracker crust. Took me less than 5 minutes to put it together! Way easier and just as delicious!
