This recipe is great! I have made it as written, so feel good with the 5 star regardless...my favorite is to swap and use 2 bananas with 2 apples (ground up in the food processor. I also add a tsp of vanilla and cinnamon, have swapped out spelt flour and added baking powder/soda for the self-rising, coconut oil in place of butter, made them in regular and mini muffin tins. Point is- they are yummy as is and very versatile, can add what you like to the base/have on hand....great recipe and sugar free!

Love these muffins!! I did change up the recipe a bit based on some of the other reviews. I used only 1 and 1/4 cup of self-rising flour, a tbsp of brown sugar in the mix and then some sprinkled on top of the muffins before they went in the oven, honey instead of agave syrup, 1 tsp of vanilla extract and probably 2-3 tbsp of whole milk at the end when I realized I still had used too much flour. They came out moist and delicious!

These muffins were very easy to make. Moist and nutty from the brown butter, delicious and of course you will taste the banana!! Since I posted this review I have made these muffins several times more. They have become a family favorite. We love the brown butter flavor. Just make sure you don't cut back on the banana or they are not as moist.

Definitely not sweet enough. I may try this again and add some brown sugar next time. I loved the smell of the butter getting nutty and caramely as it simmered, so I thought they would taste great (based on smell, but was disappointed by the blandness.

Simple recipe and great, light flavor. I didn't have agave so I used a combination of honey and maple syrup. I also read the other reviews and cut back on the flour. This is one of my go-to recipes whenever I have very ripe bananas sitting around.

Very good muffins!!! I had 4 very ripe bananas, and was just thinking today what to do with them (other than the usual banana bread. As soon as I saw the show, I knew I had to try these. I followed other reviews and decreased the flour by 1/4 cup. So instead of 1 3/4 cups, I added 1 1/2. I did not have agave, so I substituted with real maple syrup. Also added a little bit of brown sugar to taste, a teaspoon of amaretto liqueur, and sprinkled brown sugar over the muffins before baking-topped with a sprinkling of walnuts. I know, not 5 ingredients...but Holy Smokes are they YUM!!! Will definitely make these again :

After reading the reviews I decided to add some brown sugar for more sweetness. LOVED LOVED LOVED them!! I want to add golden raisins, but my son says "nooooo, they are perfect the way they are".
