6 to 8 servings

  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup hot sauce (recommended: Frank's)
  • 1 rotisserie chicken, shredded
  • 1 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • Crackers, bread or carrot sticks, for serving

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.

In a medium saucepan over moderate heat, melt the cream cheese until smooth, about 3 minutes. Add the celery, hot sauce and chicken and mix well. Transfer the mixture to a 9-inch pie plate and sprinkle the crumbled blue cheese on top. Bake until hot and bubbly, about 25 minutes. Serve with crackers, bread or carrot sticks.

This is a classic in our house. Last year, my mother-in-law actually asked me to bring this on Christmas Day! It's absolutely delicious--we follow the recipe to a T.
This is awesome! Better than actual wings.
    Great recipe.... quick and easy
Very Good. Did add 1/2 cup blue cheese dressing and 3/4 cup of Frank's hot sauce. Cooked it at 350 for 30-35 minutes.
This was great. I had to use the soft cream cheese in a tub rather than the block but it worked just fine. I used 3 cooked chicken breast and since I didn't have celery, I used a couple shakes of celery seed.
Great recipe! Made this for friends on NYE and everyone loved it. I took some advice from the comments and modified the recipes. I used 2 boxes of cream cheese, 2/3 cup franks, and panko to top the dish. It turned out to be very creamy, not dry whatsoever, and the blue cheese wasn't over powering. Definitely would make this again.
So easy to make and so yummy!
This is a good recipe, but unless you really like it hot, it has to be toned down. I doubled the recipe, so I used 1/2 cup hot sauce and 3/4 cup ranch dressing. It was still spicy, but not hot.
DELICIOUS!! My only complaint is that 1 cup blue cheese was way too much for my liking - and I consider myself a blue cheese fan. I did not find the recipe to be dry - maybe other reviewers just had too much chicken? I did add about 1/3 cup cheddar cheese, and 2 large tablespoons of mayo. Yum!! I'll be making this again.
Recently made this for a Halloween party and people lost their minds! I used a rotissiere chicken, added blue cheese salad dressing, some green onions and smoked gouda! Delicious!
I was looking for a quick recipe for buffalo chicken dip when I came across this one. Made a few modifications (pre-cooked chicken that I chopped up and I added a little cheddar cheese to the mix before the oven. Though I was unable to taste it due to medical reasons, the guest really enjoyed it and I was asked where I found the recipe.
4th of July appetizer lunch was a huge success with this tasty dip. I added Blue Cheese dressing and chunks to make it more dippy!
This was good but definitely too dry. Next time, I will add mayo and onions.
Made this for super bowl and it was a huge hit. However, I can't leave any recipe alone, so I added grated onion to the mix, and a little mayonnaise because I thought it was a little thick. Other than that---it was more popular than the hummus.
This is a great recipe however I have a couple of suggestions. Substitute chunky blue cheese dressing for some of the crumbles and it won't be dry at all. And if you want to make it healthy, next year use some of your left over turkey from thanksgiving instead of chicken. It tastes just as great with less calories. I did it w/o telling my guests and no one could tell the difference.
This was a great recipe! Everyone loved it so much I made a double batch the next time. I did get better responses with using both Ken's 1/2c blue cheese & 1/2c ranch salad dressings instead of the crumbled blue cheese. You can also add 1c of sharp or mild shredded cheddar cheese if you're a cheese lover.
I added a handful of monterey jack cheese and topped it with seasoned panko before putting in the oven. It disappeared quickly at our family function!
Add some blue cheese dressing to make it more moist. It is one of my favorite app recipes. And I put the celery on the side for dipping along with tortilla chips, not in the dip.
One of the best recipes that I make for neighborhood gatherings. We tried it with "fat free" cream cheese and Gorgonzola cheese, it was still a hit. We named it "Blazing Saddles Buffalo Chicken Dip" as the movie theme that night...HA. Thanks Claire for the recipe, it will be made for several more events in my future! Cheers!
I noticed it bubbled within 5 minutes on 450, I turned it down to 350 for 20 minutes. It was perfect. Will pass this recipe on, thanks!
I was so excited to try this recipe for a family cook off during the Christmas holiday. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out the way I expected. I doubled the recipe and used two rotisserie chickens, plus all other ingredients were doubled, except the hot sauce because I didn't want it to be too spicey for children who was in attendance. It turned out dry, and it was too much chicken and not enough flavor. It was eaten and the family stated that it was good but dry. I will make it again for the superbowl game and this time I will use less chicken, and add some sour creme to add moisture so it won't get even dryer during the baking process. It's a great easy recipe to use for parties and gatherings.
This is absolutely the best buffalo chicken dip--EVER!! I made it once and now I get requests for it all the time. Definitely a keeper! Thanks Claire!
LOVED this recipe!!! Everyone loved it!!
I found it a little dry, next time I won't cook it on such a high heat or for as long.I think I might add some ranch dressing or sour cream to the dish.
    Easy and everyone loved it!
This is a great recipe! Served with garlic toast rounds, and it was wonderful! Definitely on the Christmas appetizer menu!
This was Fantastic !!! I used a little more of the Franks Red Hot Sauce than the 1/2 cup, all the neighbors were syunned how good this tasted !! Perfect quick appt for football games !!
For those, like me, who don't like blue cheese, just pour some good ranch dressing over the top.....the thicker jarred style works best........it's what we do here in BUFFALO New York......home of the Chicken Wing! The coolness of the ranch is a great foil to the spicy heat of the Franks. Delicious/easy/quick! Thanks Claire.......you always have great recipes!
Love the recipe. A friend uses a few squirts of blue cheese dressing and serves it in a crock pot with scoops chips.
Ok! I had cooked shrimp, immitation lobster and water chesnuts. I really wanted to make this so I did sans chicken. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! So delicious. I chopped up all the pre cooked fish and having no hot sauce I used Wallmarts Fresh coctail sauce (ROSAS foud in the seafood section. It is so HOT so use to taste. Well I used it for small party and GONE in ten minutes. I served with bagel thins and celery. I know it is different from the recipe but it is what inspired me to use what I had on hand. Later I made the chicken which was fantastic but love the seafood version.
