This just seems to be one those super quick dishes that are good for those moments where u just want some cheesy, filling carbs...and u want it quick. I'm Italian so of course pasta is something that's made at least 3 times a week at my house. This obviously isn't exactly authentic Italian or one of my go to's...but I just enjoy it when I'm desperately craving some cheese and carbs...u know...stick to ur ribs kind of food. I always make fresh batches of pasta every sunday night, so it's perfect for any leftovers I have at the end of the week. And for those people who felt like it was sort of lacking something or didn't really enjoy using the aged white cheddar...try using Fontina. It's really great when u want to make a cheese sauce since it melts beautifully and is super creamy...if you'd like to add something a lil extra to give it a bit of a bite or crunch...finely dice some pancetta and render it in saute pan then just toss it in...or u can even try prosciutto cotto which i love (try cotto instead of cruddo and at times i've even added some toasted pignolis to give it a bit of a nutty flavor ( I don't believe in just using it for pesto and in salads...and of course I always believe in finishing savory dishes...well most dishes not just savory...with some fresh herbs...i like adding some fresh chopped parsley to this jus to add some freshness to it and lighten it up just a tad. I think sometimes u just need to improvise with some of the dishes from this show when u feel like it's missing something...after all she's gotta stick with the 5 ingredient rule for the show!

I really enjoyed this mac and cheese dish. This dish was put together in a very short time and it was great with a side salad. Getting home late for work and want something quick???? This is it. Enjoy!!

Maybe it was the cheese. Where I live it is hard to find aged white cheddar so I used a sharp cheddar cheese. But it seemed flat. I like the idea of not having to make a roux. I will use the concept with the milk and cream but I am going to try smoked gouda.

I made this once and I didn't think it had enough flavor for me. It just lacked something, but I still enjoyed the cheesy flavor and the twist Dijon mustard gave... I made it another time and added a pinch of garlic powder. It gave it a great taste. I also added in a pinch of paprika. These spices make it taste even better!.. The original recipes still tasted great even though it only had 5 ingredients!

This recipe is so easy to make and soo good. The first time i used English white cheddar, but the second time i used Cabot white cheddar to save some money and the results were the same. Served this for family and they loved it.

Made this dish today with my three year old son and it was easy for him. The Dijon mustard gave it that kick that you can't get in other traditional mac & cheese recipes. I know a few people could not find the cheese but my friend and I found a Wisconsin sharp cheddar at Trader Joe. I have to say that I felt like the recipe didn't have enough cheese and I free handed it until I liked the consistency. I also used a whole wheat pasta and that's the healthier choice.

I never did do the "blue box" mac & cheese. I always do a baked mac and cheese, so this looked good, easy and quick. And, it was! I used whole wheat penne, since that is what I had in my pantry. I purchased shredded white cheddar - a good quality brand, and, I used half and half. It turned out fabulous. Like the previous reviewer, just use a tad more salt and freshly ground pepper if it is bland - but I did not find it bland in the least. I did add a pinch of nutmeg. I served it with the rosemary pork tenderloin. Very nice meal. My family enjoyed it and I will make it again - even during a week night. Thanks, and keep these types of recipes coming!
