Excellent recipe and so simple! Very decedent and rich. Just make sure the chocolate piece you place in the center of the cake isn't too large so the top of your cake doesn't fall in.

I was looking for a chocolate molten cake for our 4 generation dinner. I am so glad I chose this one. We all liked it. I followed the directions to a "T." I could not believe how easy it was to make. The bittersweet chocolate I used was Ghirardelli. I topped it w/ a dollop of whipped cream & sprinkled some chopped walnuts on top. My daughter, mom, and grandma all want me to definitely make this again. Thanks Claire!!!

I used nestle bittersweet chocolate bars and I think you really have to use the ramekins. They are about $15 at walmart for 4 of them. I noticed that the chocolate and sugar can be stirred instead of whisked but does have to be dissolved before adding to butter/flour. Also, I used low heat in the microwave for the butter and chocolate and that works just fine. Yes, phonebuddy, they come out like cakes and melted in the middle because of the extra square of chocolate in the center of each cake. I am very picky and I love these....

I am very unhappy in my cakes . I followed this recipe to a dot, it did not however say to make sure the sugar is totally dissolved, that I read on a review, before adding to flour and eggs!!! Mine came out not cake like and also I baked in foil pans same ounces and they tasted too Chocolaty, just was not right! It should be cake like with chocolate oozing out of middle right? What went so wrong?Just 2 or 3 TSP will give you a chocolate fix!!! Usually do not follow receipts but , I will not give up, I will try this again if someone can prove to me that this batter should be cake like!

Loved this. So did all my guests. Very easy!! It is very rich too.
Instead of making 4, I made 8 out of this recipe. Still plenty of dessert for all. Because I changed the size, I worried about the timing. It still took 20 mins...maybe a little longer. Just watch it.
I believe Claire mentioned the mixture can be made ahead. I tried this too. It worked fine to do ahead.
Thanks!

Such a hit! I made it for my family for Easter and everyone loved it; my brother compared it to a dessert you'd have at a nice restaurant in New York. The recipe was easy to follow (I did read other reviews and took into consideration to make sure the sugar was dissolved in the melted chocolate/butter. I also kept them in the oven a few minutes longer (about 27 minutes total because the middle was still pretty gooey before that. If you're a chocolate lover, this recipe is for you!

Very satisfying for a chocolate fix, easy and fast. Winner! I melted the butter and chocolate together in the microwave to speed things up.
