I saw Claire make these on her show and had to try. So simple and tasty. I love the 5 ingredient idea....simplifies my life!

For starters...I didn't have any loose tea leaves. I never HAVE had any loose tea leaves. But I use the tea bags now and then so I went to my tea stash and found Bigelow 'Constant Comment' orange spice tea bags. I simply opened the 'ground tea dust' of 2 tea bags into the dough as instructed (in place of the loose leaves. Not sure how much of a difference that makes-I guess I'll find out if I ever make these properly! Ha!
After one cookie, I thought hmmm. Guess it's a pretty good shortbread cookie. Then another. Yeah, these are really good. After I find myself wanting a 3rd cookie-I knew I had a problem. Ha! Yes, veeeeeeery addicting!!
I may just make them my way from now on because I really like them-I believe I will add some orange extract or zest next time, too, since that 'orange spice' flavor hides in the background of these yummies.

I made these cookies today for the first time. They were very easy to make, and tasted delicious. I did not go out and buy loose Earl Grey tea because I had a lot of Earl Grey tea bags on hand, so I didn't need to put them into a food processor because the leaves were already in small pieces. I was able to make the dough entirely in a bowl, mixing with a spoon. It did take more than 12 minutes for the edges to brown -- more like 15 or 16 minutes. I will make these very frequently. And by the way, I don't really care who "borrowed" the original recipe from whom. We all share our recipes with others.

This was VERY easy and FAST to make and I am not a baker. My 4 year old daughter and I made it. They turned out very well. I usually prefer my cookies sweeter - but my husband loves shortbread cookies and loved this. I was thinking the tea would be bad - but really added to the flavor and texture.
These cookies were surprisingly good and I'd totally recommend them!

I made these with margarine and imitation vanilla and they turned out just fine. Super easy to make. I love Earl Grey tea, so these were awesome.

If a cook just changes 1 grain of salt, it's that cook's new recipe.

When I 1st saw this recipe, I became instantly inspired to make them with just a few changes: 1 cup each all-purpose and whole-wheat flours, experiment with other teas, and substitute some fruit purees for the butter. With that said, for those of you petty individuals who insist on degrading Claire, you seriously need to take a reality check. As others have stated, only so many foods/recipes can be invented, and then everyone offers their own spin on them. For instance, there are thousands of recipes for spaghetti available, but each family seems to put their own unique tastes into it. They aren't plagiarising anything, but you have to start with a basic recipe. I haven't ever come across this recipe, so by FN posting it on their website, they are grabbing the attention of a whole different audience than just Martha Stewart's viewers. Get off of your high-horse and get a grip!

These turned out great. I'm always looking for something new, so I was eager to try this. I'm glad I did!
p.s. I wish those who are arguing would go somewhere else. It's pitiful that reviewing a recipe could start such nonsense.

I have a 7 month old that only naps for 30 minutes at a time. These cookies are perfect. I make the dough during the first nap (with plenty of time to spare for a cup of coffee and some internet and by the time the second nap comes around, they are perfectly chilled and ready for baking. The second time I made them, I added a TBSP of lemon zest and cut them thinner. Next time I'll double the batch. They are so easy I might as well make some dough to keep in the freezer.

I made the dough in advance and froze. Then I put slices in the oven during my dinner party so we had fresh warm cooies with our tea. Everyone loved them.
