I love this recipe. However I added 1/4 cup more sugar, and I used orange extract with lemon zest for that delightful flavor.

I am perplexed by the negative comments from reviewers about this recipe not being an original one from Claire Robinson. One can read hundreds of "church cookbooks" and see the same recipes from all over the continent. I have made changes to many recipes that I have come across in many places. I have very few in my recipe box that I actually invented. I am complimented when asked for the recipe for something that I have served. Cooking should be enjoyed and shared and that goes for the recipes. I always read the reviews before making a dish and have found it to be very beneficial.

I just recently started watching Claire and I was impressed. She's enthusiastic, passionate and has great taste. Of course, I had to make these cookies and the results were, perfecto! I made the original Earl Grey recipe but I look forward to experimenting with other teas and some lemon zest. Great cookie for Spring! Thanks Claire!

I also made these right after watching the show but I didn't have earl grey tea so I used jasmine tea instead. Very nice cookie and the tea adds more of a scent than a flavor. Different. I had some trouble with the dough staying together before putting it in the fridge but I think that may be because I didn't pulse it enough.

As for similar recipes, Claire used only confectioners sugar and I believe she used less sugar than those others. The orange zest (or lemon zest sounds like a nice touch that I would try next time. One thing I found confusing in Martha's and the other recipe is that one said it yields 6 dozen, the other said 8 dozen. I don't see how that would be possible. Claire's yield of 2 dozen was exactly right!

These cookies are incredibly easy to make and absolutely delicious. I made them with Chai Tea, which I had on hand. Everyone loved them and I will definitely make them again!

I was surprised at how easy and delicious these cookies were. I made them as soon as her show was over saturday morning. Next time I may add some lemon zest...I think it might bring out the tea flavor in the cookies. These are a new staple in my recipe box!

You know there are a lot of recipes that are adjusted or made by other people. I am sure you have shared recipes from cookbooks and did you tell whoever you gave the recipe where you got it from. I know I don't.
By the way I found this http://find.myrecipes.com/recipes/recipefinder.dyn?action=displayRecipe&recipe_id=1046907 and it was posted in something called Real Simple the May 2005 issue by a Nancy Meyers. I agree with Sharon, this is just petty behavior. If it wasn't for Claire I would have never heard of this recipe. I don't care who came up with the recipe, but it tastes good. I am thinking of substituting Lady Grey, Constant Comment or even Chai Tea leaves for the Earl Grey Tea leaves. Am I going to be accused of stealing someone's recipe? In my honest opinion it is a given that recipes are going to be borrowed or used by others and modified to fit there needs. That is the great thing about cooking.

How petty can some people actually be. The Vanilla tastes better according to some. Tastes like a totally different shortbread, which common sense would tell you, a totally different recipe! Enjoy!
