We made this as an appetizer for New Year's Eve, everyone loved it. It disappeared very quickly. I'm making it again tonight at my 14 yr. old daughter's request for MORE! While it was very easy, I found that it took a lot longer to brown and caramelize the large amount of onions. The cheese others added sounds good, but since I'm on a dairy free diet we kept to the recipe.

Very good! I also didn't have fresh time so I used dried and I shredded some fresh grated parmigiana regiano on top after baking. Yummy!

Wonderful! Being a vegetarian, I substituted mushroom broth for beef broth. I also added a little rosemary and just a pinch of cinnamon. Then I shredded Gruyere cheese over the tart before popping it in the oven. Simply delicious.

Very easy. The flavor of the tart I found kind of needed something to jazz it up, though the onions are yummy, once paired with the puff pastry, it seemed kinda dry and flat. I will definitely will make again, the idea of it is great - but will add maybe a spread of goat cheese or gorgonzola or even a fig jam. Also I really found no need for making the crust border. It may help it "look" like a tart but, when cutting into small appetizer pieces, you end up with alot of dry edges with too much puff and no goodies.

I love this recipe! It's so easy! I love that there are only a few ingredients because its great for a newly married budget. The first time I made it my husband made fun of me because it looked "too fancy"...he ate the whole thing! haha! He now asks for it all the time & I have since started playing with adding pears & different cheeses.

Very tasty and would be great for a party. Didn't have fresh thyme so I sprinkled about 1/2 tsp on the onions when cooking and when finished I lightly added some shredded cheese on top before heating in the oven. Be sure to flour your surface a little bit when rolling out the dough

Tasted just like french onion soup! I'm not an avid onion lover but this dish was delicious. I sliced it into small squares for a party. I added nothing extra. Everyone loved it. It was easy but as an amateur I still had some missteps. So, some TIPS: Do not over crowd your pan. It became super difficult to caramelize the onions when they were boiling in their own juices. Also, it takes AWHILE to get the caramelization. Not quick like I thought. Happy cooking!

wonderful, simple dish and easy to make. I used herb de provence instead of fresh thyme and added a little bit of sugar as suggested by one of the reviewers and it was really good.

I followed exactly as written and this was a big hit. I will make it again. Other people at the party asked for the recipe.
