I made mine w/ French bread. Used 1/2&1/2 instead of heavy whipping cream w/ 4 eggs and vanilla. I warmed the strawberries with 1 1/2 Tblspn. Of Marscapone cheese, 1 Tblspn. Whipped cream and 3 equal packets in the mix. It was really good - family loved it.

I made this several times with other than brioche cause I couldn't find it. I found some this week. Will probably never use another kind of bread for Fr Toast again. I ate half of mine with the strawberry mix & the other half with real maple syrup. Loved both. Mixing them together would probably be good too but that's not the recipe I am reviewing.

It's not fair to any FN chefs/cooks to write a review of how you changed their recipe. (I did in this case make one very minor but tasty addition: A graded some fresh nutmeg in the custard. Always do for Fr Toast.

    Love Claire's shows!!

I made this meal for my family and it was very easy and very tasty. Everyone enjoyed it. I also did not find the brioche and used a bread labeled French Bread. I added sugar and vanilla to the whipped cream, otherwise it's bland. That would have taken the recipe to 7 ingredients and I think that's why she left it out. The strawberries were very tart so I added sugar to the strawberries as well. I think that the strawberries can be warm or cold....It's a preference. If you don't want cooked strawberries, have them fresh with whipped cream, one less step. We also had maple syrup with our French Toast....Was Yummy! I would definitely make this meal again.

we loved it but I agree with the other reviewers; it needs some vanilla and cinnamon into the egg and cream mixture. it was delish!

This is some of the best french toast I have ever tasted. We sometimes make it without the cream and strawberries. LOVE IT!

This was a huge hit with my husband, sons & nephew! Couldn't find brioche, but challah worked great, too. It's a keeper!

Made this for Sunday brunch and the family loved it. Like other reviewers, though, I added a teaspoon of vanilla. We used the leftover strawberry sauce on vanilla ice cream the next night. Yummy.

I had a craving for french toast but didn't have any pailn bread, so I substituted a Cinimon Raisen bread I had in the freezer. What amazing flavour! Drizzeled it wth a little real Maple Syrup for even more flavour.
