I made this dish right after I saw the show. The resipe here is mixed up (1/4 cup oil and "a little water" was on the show I went to my garden for the basil and just clipped what I thought might be close.... definitely not 1 packed cup... probably less than half that, and that much basil made it really pop. If you're calling it bland, you may want to check the freshness of your herbs/spices. I thought it was great but only got a spoonful as my wife consumed all the rest.

Well, it's not that great. It became a dare item at the supper table with my 4 kids. "Mom, if you pay me $1 I will eat it." They said it smelled like grass. My husband said it tasted bland. I didn't think it was bland, I think you have to either like basil or not. I will not make this again. Maybe change up the basil. It needs something else. We hope the night animals will enjoy it...sitting out for them on the patio tonight. That will be the true test.

Loved it! Unique take on white rice, and a great and filling side. I did double the avocado and added a little crushed red pepper - so good!

I cut back on the basil, put a roasted head of garlic in, amped up the avocado and still this was incredibly bland and blah...I seasoned it well...it just isn't worth making again. I could taste the basil, which I love, but maybe it needed anchovies or something.

Great flavor. So fragrant and refreshing. I will definitely be making this one again and again. Love the combination of avocado and basil.
