I made this recipe and I absolutely enjoyed it. I loved the idea of putting it in the oven, (no greasy messy stovetop. I can understand how some people would think this as being too sweet, however, a recipe is there for you to tweak and make it your own. For example, I did not run out and buy the most expensive cut of bacon, nor did I even buy the thickest kind. I just used the idea that claire presented to us, and it came out fantastic. I like thinner cuts of bacon anyway. I feel sorry for the poor lady in south padre tx who said after 30 minutes her bacon was still limp. Maybe her starving hubby should buy her a working stove and she would be in a little better mood?

I made this for a party this weekend, 6 pounds of it, and it was gone in record time.
I made ahead and then stacked in layers of foil, so I could reheat one batch at a time. Since I needed so much, I didnt use special bacon, just the regular kind I could get in bulk at Costco and it was still great. I did cook it a slightly lower temp. I think half the people that were at our party will be making this for Christmas morning.

I ate seven pieces before I even noticed what I was doing. Delicious! I was a little scared by those claiming the bacon was too sweet, so I wasn't as generous with the maple syrup as she was in the episode. There was definitely sweetness, but it wasn't at all overpowering. I enjoyed it so much, though, that I will be braver next time around.

This bacon comes out so good and sweet, it really is like candy. My family and friends loved it! I will make it again and again, as it is so easy and so good - just the way I like it. Thanks Claire!

The process of cooking thick bacon in the oven is excellent. Every oven temperature varies. 15 mins per side for a total of 30 minutes was my experience. Definitely, spray the grill sheet with nonstick & use aluminum foil underneath.

Better than any store bought Maple Bacon. The cracked pepper is optional, but my 3-y.o. enjoys all food complexities. It will be our Family breakfast meat of choice going forward.

    Thanks Claire!

I made this yesterday, Sunday. Excellent. Everyone enjoyed the bacon. I tried it very crispy and tried a batch just short of crispy and let it stand in my warming drawer while I finished the rest of my meal. The ends may turn first... it's just one of those things you have to keep an eye on. If you don't like too sweet... don't put as much on! GREAT... THANK YOU

This recipe inspired me to register so I could post a comment. I have found many delicious recipes on foodnetwork.com and now I intend to give credit when credit is due. That is not the case for this recipe. The bacon tastes terrible. It is way too sweet. After 30 minutes in the oven, the bacon was still limp. I finally had to put it in a skillet before my poor husband starved to death, but the maple syrup caused it to burn. A fiasco all around, and a waste of the hard-earned money paid for the "thick sliced bacon, high quality".

Think Claire is GREAT as do so many others. Her recipes are clean and yummy. Is there really a need to dis the hosts?? If the show gets poor ratings then they will pull it - if it does well, it will continue - it's just that simple.

So many difficulties going on in the world - let's be nice to each other!
