I made this recipe and everyone loved it! My husband hates sweet potatoes and even he enjoyed this dish. I didn't add a whole onion because I thought it was too much (I used half, but I DEFINITELY will add the whole onion next time because it was so unbelievable good. Claire definitely has a fan in me!

I love this recipe! All the prep and cooking time was worth. I would suggest cutting back on the salt a little bit... but otherwise, an excellent side dish!

a few notes: 1 should include #lbs on sweet potatoes. i got three HUGE sweet potatoes as i think that would = 4 large. 2 the recipe calls for the onions to be carmelized in a medium saucepan. should be a medium frying pan, i actually would say large...i think this is how she did it on the show, actually. 3 the onions take way longer to carmelize than 2 minutes. and do you really take them off the heat and continue to add water? why would the pan be getting dry if it wasn't on the heat? maybe i need to re-watch the episode.

all that said, i LOVE claire robinson's show. she's super charming, her recipes are wonderfully simple and elegant, as someone else also said & i adore the minimalist approach (i'm a huge mark bittman fan. sometimes i just think food network needs to edit these recipes better. thankfully we have the reviews!

Felt like this was a lot to prepare for the end result. Was there really supposed to be 2 tsp salt? Seems way too much. But, I felt it was too oniony although I separated some out w/o onions for the kids and only used 3 potatoes. Plus it took longer to roast than 40 minutes so some did not completely process in my cuisinart. And, I onlly had a small cuisinart so it could be that I didn't fully realize this recipe. Maybe will try again.

Absolutely delicious!! I don't have a food processor so I just kept the sweet potatoes in chunks after roasting, then mixed them in with the fantastic carmleized onions... oh wow.

I made the entire meal -- the pecan/panko chicken breasts, this dish, and the crispy Brussels sprouts, and my family loved it all. A keeper!! Thanks, Claire!!

I am not a big onion fan but it looked so good on tv that I had to give it a try. Yummy! I absolutely loved this sweet and savory combination!

WOWWWWW.... this recipe is so simple yet it takes the sweet potatoes to another level! i made a few substitutions..... i use sugar free maple syrup (watching calories for the potatoes and i use splenda brown sugar blend in my caramelizing process for the onion instead of more maple because i dont wanna overdue the maple flavor... plus maple and brown sugar is a heavenly combo! also instead of water i use a touch of OJ instead when processing the potatoes... really delicious.... i served this with a pork tenderloin and it is now the favorite recipe in my house!
