This recipe has a great flavor. I would suggest adding the maple syrup a tablespoon at a time so it is as sweet as you like. I like mine a bit more savory so I used a bit less maple syrup. This is really easy - give it a try!

This is a must try for anyone that loves sweet potatoes. The caramelized onions add so much flavor. I would of never thought of mixing the two together. I had these with Maple Glazed Pork Chops. There where no left overs. Everyone raved how good these potatoes where. Will be making these again really soon. Enjoy.

These were truly excellent. I just mashed mine instead of using the food processor, and they were great. This is a really healthy, comforting dish that I can't wait to make again.

I love my sweet potatoes and yams! I am also a fan of carmelized onions. Perhaps there was too much syrup but it was too sweet for me to enjoy and it didnt' give the onions a true opportunity to show off their flavor.

I didn't think it was possible to doctor up sweet potatoes -- they're so delicious on their own that it would be a way beyond reason to mess with them. Unless, of course you puree them with caramelized onions and top them with some more. The onions add a savory layer of flavor to what can taste a tad bit much like pie for dessert. And, hey, you can't go too wrong by adding (more than the called-for amount of maple syrup. So easy, so good, so scrumptious, and makes a great side for simply seared steak, pork chops, or even plain old chicken.

This is a wonderful way to use sweet potatoes! My husband even ate some and said it was tasty - and he hates sweet potatoes/yams. I will make this dish again and again and it will replace my famous Thanksgiving take along - Streuseled Sweet Potato Casserole that I've made for the past 10 years.

Keep bringing the good - simple but elegant meals Claire! Even my 21 month old loves your dishes!

I enjoyed this dish, although my husband did not care for it. He loves Yams but does not like onions, no matter how sweet they are. He could actually taste them in the puree even though he couldn't see them except for the few I drizzled on top. I thought that the Vidalia onion and the syrup is what gave it the great taste. My 12 and 10 year old were not interested in trying it either. Oh well... guess I won't be making it in the future.
