I also saw the show and althought the recipe did vary it was still pretty simple to follow. For me, I am alsways a little heavy handed on measuring and this time I should have been more carefull. Example: I added a little more bacon and pecans thus making it harden way to fast. Had to keep it on the heat while spooning out. And they didn't spread as well as I would have liked. GREAT recipe but measure the add ins on the lighter side if you are looking for a flatter praline. This is a keeper for sure!

I watched the show just today and thought I would get the actual recipe on food network website. Half of the directions were not shown on the tv show! Claire said on the show to just forget about it in the pan once you stir the butter, brown sugar and cream together. Wrong! The website says to use a candy thermometer, sugar coat the nuts, etc. All of this was left out of the tv show. This is so wrong! Make it on tv like the website recipe says!

I made bacon pecan pralines for a bake sale. They were the first thing to go! This is an easy recipe. I just cooked maple smoked bacon on my griddle and drained it and used chopped fresh pecans to add to the caramel mixture. Spooned out, let set up and packaged in clear plastic bags with a little ribbon tie and label. People were buying them just to try and then coming back for several more to take home. They are so YUMMY! This is a winner!

I made these for my office the other day and they were gone by 10:00 am. They were so easy. I added my baked pecans to the sugar with my bacon and it worked out great.

I found the recipe very easy to follow why so many found it difficult I do not know. I used regular thick bacon and applied maple syrup on the bacon. The pecan's were very easy to prepare. I wasn't sure how I would like having bacon in a praline but it works. First bite I didn't care for them then as I cleaned the kitchen I kept going back for more. My husband loves the bacon in the pralines as much as I do. I found the praline was very sugary but with the bacon and pecans it works. Thanks Claire for sharing. Maxine

Loved the pralines but this is not a recipe for novices. Just a few notes: the bacon needed to be cooked much longer than was stated. I turned it at 15 minutes dabbed with papertowel and returned to the oven for another 20. The recipe is not clear regarding the 3 tbsp of brown sugar and pecans. I could see how someone who wasn't really versed in the kitchen may have gotten confused. It is also a lot more labor intensive than Claire led one to believe. All in all though, EXCELLENT; My daughter brought up the leftovers to her dorm mates..teenagers, sugar and bacon; a winning combination

This recipe sounded great! I just made it and the finished product turned out crumbly and won't stay together. I watched my temperature very carefully. I'm not sure what I did wrong.

Well I'd say to herthamaas_12739911, there are so many questions because there's one whole step in the directions that Claire didn't do on the show. The candied pecans? In the show she just added the cooked bacon and pecans to the carmel. So I'm skipping that step to make this recipe that much easier, i'm sure there's enough sugar as it is. So just add the normal chopped pecans to the cooked carmel, also even easier cook the bacon in the microwave for about 5 to 8 minuets just watch very carefully not to burn. Much easier and you don't even have to get the oven heated! Hope this helps all of us confused ones :

The bit about baking is you bake the bacon, and also bake the pecans awhile. Sounded straight forward to me!
