For the vinaigrette, I squeezed the juice from half of the orange and mixed with the lemon-infused olive oil as described. The remaining half of the orange was sectioned as described and placed on the grilled romaine. This dish was delicious.

This is insane good, I never grilled romaine before but it came out really good. This is super easy and the flavors are great. It is also a very pretty side dish. I've made it about 5 times total and I use what is on hand. If I don't have shallots then red onions work well (I like them real thin sliced on the mandolin and I have used gorgonzola in place of blue cheese.

I had a hard time with this. I got my romaine from the Farmers Market so they had already cut off the leaves, so outside of rubberbanding the bottom together, it was hard to keep together. After that, I put too much olive oil on it....I went through a lot of leaves before getting something to show grill marks by then everything was just wet with oil...and didnt really look to appetizing. So I didnt eat it. The reviews below seem good, so it was obviously just me...maybe I will give it another shot.

I followed the recipe but used blood oranges. I was so disappointed in the dish. I didn't care for it at all.

I used this recipe for the first time at a cookout with bbq ribs, corn, etc. Grilled salad was a big hit but a bit hard to prepare large serving.

I really liked this salad and look forward to making it again but as the focus of my meal instead of a side dish. It doesn't get any easier than this!! Grilling the lettuce provided a very interesting twist. Not a fan of blue cheese and we used a Danish blue from the grocery. I plan to try Shropshire in the future but for now the rest of the ingredients/salad was wonderful!!

I tried this the day after viewing it on TV. I knew I would love it but was skeptical that my husband would. He's an iceburg lettuce fan and typically does not like blue cheese. (BORING! He thought it looked interesting and was up to the challenge. Guess what...we BOTH loved it! I can't wait to try this on other family members when we get together. But since I now CRAVE it, will not be waiting for that to happen before making again!

I HAVE NEVER TRIED GRILLING ROMAINE, BUT THERE WAS THAT CUTIE-PIE SHOWING ME SOMETHING NEW. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUSLY GOOD. THE ROMAINE TAKES ON A SMOKY QUALITY THAT IS SURPRISING AND ADDING THE COOL FRESH ORANGE AND THE CREAMY BLEU CHEESE WITH THE SNAP OF SHALLOT ....WHAT A MOUTH SENSATION! I CANNOT WAIT TO SHARE THIS WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY. THANKS, CLAIRE, YOU AND NEUMAN ARE A DELIGHT TO WATCH.

i tried this and not only did my hubby and i love it, but so has the neighbors, people at his work and my folks! I love the look you get when you say grilled lettuce. It is sooooo easy and good. I added bell peppers, ginger garlic, and pepper pods(like for pizza to the dressing one time and tomatoes another. One time i used grapefruit insted of oranges and it was good too. to cut on calories, i diden't use any cheese at all. and it was still awesome! Can't wait to make it for the 4th! THANK YOU CLAIRE!
