First time I watched the show - loved the show, loved Claire and can't wait to make the short ribs. Looked so good. Can't really rate them but I know they are going to be excellent. Can they be cooked in a slow cooker instead of the oven? If so how long?

I must not know how to reduce wine. Lots of smoke and then it never seemed to go to a cup. What did i do wrong. The recipe says 3 1/2 hours cooking in the oven for 3 so how long did i need to reduce the wine at what temo? I'll post how it turns out.

I had to make this recipe after I saw the show. I followed the directions exactly and my family was very happy. This recipe will become one we have at least once a month. I made mashed potatoes with it and that worked nicely. YUM! I wish I had leftovers!

Made this for Sunday dinner, including the cabbage and grits. Hubby said each item alone may not be "all that" but they all worked great together. The short ribs were quite expensive at my store so I made it with pot roast meat. All the liquid would not fit in my cast iron pot so I cooked it in the slow cooker on high. I used my built in meat probe to cook to an internal temp of 170. It took about 2.5 hours on high.

This was a really good meal, and worth the time it takes to prepare. It was so easy though, don't let it intimidate you. The flavor was amazing and the house smelled great.

Because my hubby has to have reduced sodium diet, I made my own veggie stock. This was an amazing recipe. It is a keeper. Lea, in answer to you question, the stock addition is in the recipe. After you reduce the wine, you add the ribs to the pot, you also add the stock.

Just reading this recipe makes my mouth water and I am going to make it. However, the ingredient list calls for vegetable stock, but I don't see anywhere in the directions to add vegetable stock. Can somebody tell me where this comes in or if it is just a type/glitch? I want to make the short ribs for my fiance and I don't want to mess up a 3.5 hour recipe. thanks!
