I was disappointed with the texture of the "chips" after baking. They were soggy in the center and chewy on the ends. I followed the recipe carefully, and got these results. The flavors were fair, but I will not be making these again.

These chips were salty AND soggy! A disappointment! Can anybody suggest an oil thermometer that clips to the side of the pot like the one that Claire used on this TV Show? Thanks for any advice.
I love sweet potato and bake them all the time out on the grill, as 1 inch thin slices that have been dredged in olive oil and cajun seasoning and grilled on a closed grill turned down from hot to medium, about 350 degrees! Only take 10 minutes a side. Respond with a suggestion for an oil thermometer and I'll post back with my finish of the grilled sweet potato slices story. Thanks!

Just saw this episode and had some sweet potatoes in the pantry. So I decided to make them with my turkey swiss mushroom burgers, cole slaw and these chips. Delicious! Sweet, spicy with a nice little crunch. I added some smoked paprika and little extra Cayenne pepper to the mixture. Will definitely make again......Note: Only need to cook them for 2-3 minutes tops if using canola oil or they will start to burn.

I used kosher salt for this and didn't find it to be too salty. Loved them!

I love these sweet potato chips! I has a couple of problems with the chips being soggy and too salty so instead of putting all the salt, i put only 1 tablespoon, it really cuts down the saltiness. They are delicious!!!!! And they are so easy and cheap, they are so good, I bought a deep fryer to make them and my friends and family love them too.
Dont Spend your time with storebought things anymore!

I saw the show and needed to try these.
Thanks to the other reviewers I used about a third of the salt in the directions, with was enaugh!
We used a deep fryer with peanutoil and had to keep the Chips in there for a few minutes, maybe five.
The sweet spicy mixture made them unexpected delicious!

Tried the sweet potatio recipe. Worked out great! You need to make sure you don't crowd the pan cooked at 375 in peanut oil. I reduced the salt by 1 TBL and we enjoyed crispy chips with wonderful flavor. Thank you Clarie, this is great! My family really enjoyed this one.

I tried this recipe tonight after seeing it on TV. I used my deep fryer instead of oil in a pan. I sliced the potatoes with my mandoline which was easy to do. After frying each batch I sprinkled on some of the salt mixture. About half way through my husband tasted them and said they were too salty so I fried up the rest of the batches without adding any more salt. I had used about half of the mixture but wished I used a fourth.

I kept them warm in the oven 200 degrees until the rest of my food was done. Most of them were crispy and quite good and would make again using way less salt.
