Perfect as is! For people with problems setting try using quick oats instead of old fashioned oats.

I've made these several times. To solve the problem of the cookies not setting, only use 1/2 cup peanut butter. Also be careful about the type of "butter" you use. Many margarines have a high water content. Real butter works best. If using margarine use regular, not low fat or they won't set and will be flat. You may need a little more oatmeal, add a little at a time until thick.Turn off heat while stirring everything in, but leave on warm burner until ready to drop onto wax paper.
another variation that my family loved was to replace 1/2 the butter with nutella and use 2 Tablespoons cocoa. (The Nutella gives it a rich flavor and is a bit better for you than butter too!

Made this a couple times. First time, followed directions and others advice of waiting 1 minute after boiling and then adding the peanut butter and oatmeal. Way too much oatmeal - only made about 10 and the rest looked like granola.

Made it again and this time - perfect. Let the ingredients boil for 2-3 minutes then switch off the heat. wait for 45 seconds or so, add the peanut butter and mix it in well. Then slowly add the oatmeal while stirring all the time. Keep adding the oatmeal until it combines well. You may / may not need the whole 3 cups. You should notice when it gets to a consistency where they can easily "plop" on the wax paper.

Sets perfectly. Put it in the fridge/freezer if you want.

    Super easy and very tasty.

These cookies are a hit! I suggest using only a 1/3 cup of butter, instead of 1/2. And putting them in the freezer after theyre set! Eat them right out of the freezer, I think chilled they're even tastier :

tried this recipe today and still had probs with them setting, let the mixture boil for 3-4 as suggested, but I also did some peanut butter no bakes as well(same as above without the cocoa and they set right away, idk what I'm doing wrong
