    This recipe was the best! I added a few mushroom and a couple cloves of garlic to give it my own little touch and it turned out great. It is a fan favorite in our house.

    We love this recipe! I have been making it since I first received The Joy of Cooking almost seven years ago. I make it once every couple months, and even my two young children gobble it up. I find that if I have all the prep work done, it makes an easy weeknight dinner. (I am a working mom. And you can't beat the taste. The addition of the nutmeg and allspice gives these meatballs a unique flavor. It's a great comfort food meal!

    I thought the gravy was very tasteless and had to doctor it a little bit. I added some Beau Monde seasoning, lots of salt and pepper to impart some flavor. It was lacking depth of flavor. But, still an enjoyable meal.
