they have you make homemade chicken broth, otherwise it only takes 1 and a half hours, use store bought and you save time.

Pretty good; I like the inclusion of leeks and apple cider. To the post that worried about cooking times: the extra time comes from the time to make the stock (since this cooks in stock and not water. Total cooking time for the chicken and dumplings themselves of 20-30 min. is correct, assuming you are using cut-up parts from fryer chickens (not stewing hens.

Did you notice that the cooking time in the recipe "summary" says 5 hours? I think stewed chicken or chicken & dumplings are done in two hours, however the instructions say 15 minutes. That seam dangerous to me! This classic dish DOES need to simmer for a long time in order for it to be what it is--stewed chicken/chicken & dumplings!
