Instead of using All-purpose flour, regular milk, & vegetable oil, instead use Self-rising flour, evaporated milk, shortening, & eliminate the baking powder altogether. Also use 1/4 cup of sugar for every cup of flour & whatever else you'd like such as jalapeños, cream corn. With my tweaks this recipe is delicious.

Awful. Just awful. At first taste there was nothing evidently wrong--except lack of any flavor. But the aftertaste was disgusting. I really think 7 TABLESPOONS of baking powder is the WRONG measurement. It was gross and no one ate it. Needs more flavor and less baking powder.

i made only half of this recipe - one pan. i added one can of smoked chili peppers and one can of sweet corn. my husband just loved it.
still i would like to make some remarks; cooking took more then 20 min, i greased the pan but i definitely didn't keep the pan in the oven before pouring the batter.

Where to start. Cook time if off by 10 minutes. Cooking this recipe for 20 minutes will be burnt. Only cook for 10-12. Do not grease the pans and then put in the oven, you will have a smoky mess that sets off the smoke alarm. I used the full recipe and it tastes so-so. Not much corn flavor and not that moist. I might recommend that you remove this from the website until the kitchen tests it. Definitely not a recipe I would put my name on.

Great recipe but where is the salt!! I added 1 tablespoon of salt and then the flavor comes through. I will use this recipe often.

I cut the recipe in half and it looked great, but tasted like nothing. I had to smother it with honey to make it even remotely edible. I wish I had read the reviews before I made it.

I cut in in half and it came out a little crumbly. The second time I made it, I cut the recipe down to a 3rd and it came out great. Heating the pan before baking created a great bottom crust. Perfect, plain, not too sweet, corn bread.
