WOW! Trisha.... Southern to the bone!
I used only 1- 16 oz. block of extra sharp cheddar cheese (5 cups
I grated a little nutmeg in it
I cooked on high for 3hr 15min instead of low for 3 hr 25min.(didn't read that part of your instructions..my bad, but I liked it
I also added/whisked all of my ingredients in a bowl before adding the cheese like others did.
These are the only changes I made & absolutely LOVED IT!

This was easy and turned out delicious! My husband said he would rather have this recipe than Ina Garten's!! ( I love them both, but this one was just too easy to make! I made 2 changes, based upon other reviews: I used 1 part Mozzarella to 4 parts Cheddar cheese, and I sprinkled some Panko breadcrumbs on top. I took it to a potluck, and there wasn't a morsel left!

Great southern mac-n-cheese recipe. This is not a creamy version but more like a baked macaroni. Very yummy!

Ok, here's the deal. When I watched Trisha make this on her show I thought it looked fantastic. Then I read the reviews. So many complained, giving her just one star, others raved. This is the key: this is traditional Deep South mac n cheese. It is not your smooth and creamy Yankee version (which I also enjoy!. I live in Mississippi and my kids have raved about my mom-in-law's recipe for years. She wouldn't share her secret...but now, she doesn't have to!! This is the perfect "southern" mac n cheese...totally making it forever :

Great job Trisha! Only thing I did different was add some dry mustard and heated all cheeses, milk, etc. before I added to macaroni and put in crock pot. I was very skeptical since I cater but absolutely the best mac and cheese I have ever made. Thanks!

My crockpot was full so I had to make this in the oven and it turned out great!! Even my very picky eaters loved it. it has a nice creamy texture and a very cheesy robust taste. I even had to pass out the recipe at dinner.

I just made this for Sunday Supper. I did not make it EXACTLY as it as written though. The changes I made are:
I upped the amount of macaroni to 14 oz (8 seemed skimpy. I used a blender to mix the eggs, evaporated milk, milk, butter, and seasoning to make sure they were well mixed. I upped the salt to 2 tsp., and the pepper and paprika to 1 tsp. I used 16oz sharp cheddar and 4oz swiss cheese. I didn't hold back any cheese for the topping, and mixed it all through. I baked it in the oven (covered for 50 minutes at 350. Then I took it out, stirred it well and baked it for 10 additional minutes uncovered. While it was baking I toasted about 1/3 cup panko bread crumbs with 1 tsp. oil in a dry skillet, stirring often until golden brown. When the 10 minutes was up I stirred it again and then topped it with the bread crumbs. I paired it with stewed tomatoes are from a can that I simmered for a few minutes to warm and thicken!
    It was DELISH!! :-9
