One word: DELICIOUS! Chocolate and chilli is my favourite combo, and this cake is a total winner in my book. I was kinda afraid that the chilli wouldn't come through in the cake but am glad to say that it was just the right amount. It definitely gave the cake a kick and a certain depth to an otherwise run-of-the-mill flourless chocolate cake. This recipe is fantastic! Two thumbs up!!

FYI...you decide. This recipe makes a cake that is distinctive. The addition of the cayenne pepper (my opinion adds a special flavor BUT also an unusual and enjoyable texture on the back of the tongue. Wonderful recipe. Annie , Fremont , CA

Okay, I made the mistake in making this when I had a lack of sleep and couldn't figure out why the coffee syrup wasn't turning to syrup (as I waited for well over an hour - just to now notice that I wasn't supposed to use espresso "grinds" - just the brewed espresso. Well, the funny thing is that it did still turn out good except for the overwhelming coffee flavor. My sister really liked it. I said it would have been good for all chocolate covered espresso bean lovers (the way I made it. Nonetheless, I'm dying to try this again - knowing it'll turn out fantastic "the right way". I guess I'm no baker.

My wife used to make a chocolate torte that was superb. Daisy's recipe has far outstripped her old torte recipe. The richness of the addition of espresso to the chocolate, then the slight bite of the cayenne makes this dish truly incredible. The second time my wife cooked it she used a pressure cooker instead of just using a water bath in the oven. It came out even smoother and richer, and I didn't think that was possible!

Oh -- my -- goodness! This recipe was simply delicious, and it took no time to prepare. The taste; the taste was wonderful. It was like wrapping the taste buds in a blanket of silky chocolate, habit forming loveliness with just a hint of warmth at the back of the throat. The cinnamon and cayenne compliment the chocolate so well. It was a big hit at our Easter dinner. Everyone loved it. I will be making it just as written, again, and again, and again.

I made this for a party with Ina's raspberry sauce and cinnamon ice cream from a really good recipe. Everyone LOVED it. It was very rich, but unfortunately I subsituted ancho for cayenne, and I couldn't taste the chile. However, it was AWESOME and I will definitely make it again. This is the first Daisy recipe I have tried, and I'm hooked! Thanks Daisy for a crowd pleaser (and personal favorite!

This cake turned out perfect on the first try. It tastes just like an expensive cayenne truffle.

Loved this torte....and the cayenne really gave it a new level of complexity.

RE. the comment from Katherine....good taste isn't limited to just cooking....you need to work on yours a bit.

This is a hit at our house. Both my husband and I have taken samples to share with friends at work. Very popular. As a result I have started making them in my Calphalon cupcake pans (sitting in water-so that we can take to work and share. They are gone before you know it! With credit to Viva Daisy and Food Network of course. DELICIOUS!.
