Ingredients

  • 1 cup seedless watermelon, diced
  • 2 red plums, pitted and sliced
  • 1 pint strawberries, hulled and quartered
  • 1 pint blueberries
  • 1 pint blackberries
  • 1 bunch red seedless grapes
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
  • 1 cup sparkling wine, chilled
  • 1/4 cup Creme de Cassis
  • 1 lemon, peel cut into strips, for garnish
  • 1 bunch fresh mint, for garnish

Directions

Toss all the fruit together in a decorative bowl along with the lemon zest and refrigerate. Immediately before serving, mix the sparkling wine and Cassis together and pour over the fruit. Gently toss, garnish with the lemon peel and mint, and serve.

    Wonderful presentation of colors .... very different from the typical fruit salads sold in the grocery stores. I prepared this a day before and added the mint - got a lot of compliments on this - they especially liked the light mint flavor in the salad. Wonderful for a brunch or bbq.

    This is a great way to serve an adult fruit salad without the heavy whipped cream. My husband is from Europe and they have what they call a "boule" which is sparkling wine with fruit. This is SO much better. Can't wait for my in-laws to come over and show them the Dan and Steve version. I made this for brunch and everybody loved it!

    We made this for my mother's birthday dinner and she loved it! And Mom is tough to please. I will, of course, point out that you shouldn't serve this to little kids, but a combination of some kind of berry juice with either ginger ale or lemon-lime soda (or club soda to keep the sweetness from overwhelming the fruit would work just fine for them.
