Just as good without the pears. Just a little nutmeg & cinnamon added to the pureed squash. Delicious!

I love pears and I love butternut squash but I did not like them together in this dish. If it were just the squash and the butter mixture I would give it five stars. The pears with it though make it a two.

My daughter absolutely will not eat squash. This idea was is a great approach to encourage her to eat other foods. She loves fruit, but it is hard to get her to eat vegetables. Pears is one of her favorites so it created a way to get her to eat more vegetables. GREAT!!!!.

I have never eaten butternut squash or pumpkin before. I tried it but I'm not doing it again. I had to insist to my 3 year-old girl to try it, she didn't even like the look of it. She tried and she didn't like it. I know kids take more time than adults to get used to new flavors.

Just read everyones comments about how much ginger and brown sugar was used. I just watched the show and it called for 1 tablespoon of ginger and 2 tablespoons of brown sugar. Hope this helps!!!!! The recipe looks great, I dont know why it wasn't printed up correctly.

I saw this on TV and made it that night to go with roasted pork. Turned out amazing. I skipped the ginger and simply upped the amount of butter - will be making this again.

I watched his program just today and remembered that it was one teaspoon ginger to 2 or 3 tablespoons of brown sugar. This recipe sounds really good and I would definitely go more on the sugar! I can't really rate this because I haven't made it, but plan to do so for Christmas!

I'd imagine it's less ginger and more brown sugar. Ginger is an extremely strong spice and since the name of this recipe is not "Gingered mashed butternut....." well, you get the idea.
I'm making it now, and I'm adding cinnamin and nutmeg to boot. Can't hurt.
Good luck. I'll review it in about 2 hours.....

I watched this episode this morning, and the recipe looked just great. However when I printed the recipe from the website, the amounts for the ginger and brown sugar were reversed. Spice can make a big difference and I don't have time to try it both ways. Can anyone help? Which is correct? Thanks!

Is it 2 teaspoons ginger and 1 tablespoon brown sugar, or the reverse?
