This is a terriffic family recipe. My four year old daughter even had two helpings. My husband and I did agree that we will make it again. HOWEVER, we will add more seasoning and more tomato paste the next time.

I absolutely love shepherds pie. Coming from new england it was definitely a usual dinner. I miss it a lot, and my husband has never heard about it. It was my first time making it, and I'm the type that over does things. I added more garlic and onions. Included garlic in my mashed potatoes, and used mozzerella instead of chedder. Sounds weird right? Well it was amazing. I also used sweet peas and corn instead of carrots and celery cause thats how my mom makes it. It was fantastic, but was too greasy, next time i will drain the grease from the meat extreamly well. I only thought it got greasy because of the cheesy potatoes. Excellent stuff :

We loved it. Any mashed potato recipe you use though would be good on this! We prefer ours w/out cheese. It made a TON so if you're a smaller family you can half the recipe in my opinion.

I was very excited to try this recipe; finally, something my family of plain eaters would actually try!

However, after it's completion (I used ground beef my family and I found it to be incredibly bland. My family normally devours foods that lack flavor, but apparently this was just too plain. I would still recommend this recipe, but it definitely needs a punch of some sort.

I have made this recipe SEVERAL times and we have made minor changes each time. I thing I recommend is altering the salt. I have made the potatoes with regular Irish potatoes, and it turns out GREAT I added an extra cup of cheese too...YUMMY.
