- 4 tablespoons honey
- Pinch cinnamon
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 lemon, zested and juiced
- Sour cream, optional
Directions
In a medium saute pan, melt butter over low heat. When it has melted, add the pear slices and toss to coat. Chop the dates into small pieces and add to the pears. Add the honey and a cinnamon and cook until tender, 3 to 5 minutes. Add a little water to loosen, if necessary. Add the zest and juice from the lemon and stir.
Serve with pancakes, if desired, and a dollop of sour cream

My comfort zone is quite small...I made this and then was hesitant to try it! I almost used syrup on my pancakes....the old comfort zone you know...well I didn't and to my amazement and pleasure this was wonderful. I will be making this agian during the holidays and I hope my family will like it as much as I do.

This compote came together easily and worked really well with the sourdough pancakes. The pancakes are very mild in flavor and the compote really complemented them nicely. I actually used apples instead of pears and was very happy with the results. I just had to cook the apples longer to obtain the desired doneness.
