Very tasty! I did not have enough dates (about 1 1/2 cups so I used a combination of figs, dried cranberries and raisins for the filling. My husband raved about the recipe and stated that "it was a keeper".

Yummy. I also added the zest from one orange and used walnuts instead of pecans because that's what I had on hand. I did all stages in the food processor and it still turned out OK.

I purchased a tub of dates at the store because they looked good. I then started looking for something to do with them and encountered this recipe. Made 1/2 recipe and added some orange zest to the filling. Quite qood and reminds me of my mothers version.

We love date bars, and have tried quite a few recipes in our search for the "perfect" bar. I am happy to say we find this recipe to be one of the best we've tried. The cookie crust and topping is perfectly sandy/crumbly, and the date filling the correct consistency to prevent the crust from becoming soggy even long term. After including these in my Christmas cookie tray, I had many compliments and recipe requests, and was told that the bars "were addictive" and held up well for weeks. The only thing I did differently was to add a few drop orange oil and some orange zest to the date filling. This recipe is quick, easy, requires few ingredients and is a definite recipe collection keeper. Thanks!
