It is a wonderful recipe. The only change I made was to add a tablespoon of honey to the sauce. I guess you can say I like my tomato sauce a little sweet. The kids call it their favorite meal.

We loved this recipe! Absolutely amazing and unique taste. I served it with Yorkshire puddings and we didn't stop dipping into the sauce until there was none left. I ate 5 Yorkshires myself. Thx Dave...it was a meal to remember!

I usually get tired of left overs. My husband and I both cook "large". This Ale simmered Chicken however is so very good, I loved every meal, all four of them. We shredded the chicken, to make it easier to eat at work. The sauce was the best tomato sauce I have ever had with chicken. I may try it with left over pork. Give it a go, you'll see. the prunes were a sweet touch that mellowed the acidity of the tomatoes. There was no "beer" taste to it, but I could tell it was there. This is what my hubby and I call a "do-over" and it has been printed and put in our personal faves cook book.

This was fabulous! I used boneless, skinless chicken breasts and thighs, but otherwise, stuck to the recipe. The dried plums (or prunes, as they used to be called!, gave the dish a hint of sweetness. I will definitely make this again and again.

I could not believe how tasty this dish was! My family was so impressed with it too. Not difficult to make, and so flavorful! A great comfort food over rice!

Delicious! I added some croutons that I made in a pan from some old bread, olive oil, salt and pepper. I poured the stew over them and it worked out great! The croutons soaked up the sauce.

Followed the tip and used Newcastle (also served it with a couple. Super easy to prepare and my friends loved it. It was a great meal for a chilly night.
