Update: Our culinary team has changed the amount of oil to 1/2 cup and added the following to the method.
GENEROUSLY grease and lightly flour a Bundt pan. Pour 1/4 of the batter into the pan, and then arrange a 1/3 of the apples around the top of the batter. Make 2 more layers of apples, smoothing the batter over them after each addition. Top off with the last of the batter and smooth.
Bake about 1 hour 10 minutes, until risen, the top is nicely browned, and a sharp knife inserted in the middle of the cake comes out dry. LET COOL IN THE PAN UNTIL THE CAKE STARTS TO RELEASE FROM THE SIDES BEFORE UNMOLDING.

I followed this recipe as printed and it produced an oily mess. Like all of the other reviews stated there must be a typo with 1 1/2 cups of oil. I will try again with only a 1/2 cup of oil. Very disappointing.

Guys the issue with this recipe is the oil.
Notice on the show that the chef mentions 1 1/2c of oil but when you look at bottle it's empty only 1/2 cup. So to make this recipe a success just use 1/2 cup of oil or use apple sauce instead of the oil.
Also reduce sugar 1 and 2/3rd of a cup of sugar.
Hope this helps.

This was the worst cake I ever made. Half of the cake fell out of the bundt pan when I turned it out. It was so greasy the portions have to be wrong. Do they read these reviews at all? When I put the oil water and butter in the mixing bowl I couldn't believe the the wet to the dry ingreients. I thought something was wrong. But I went according to the receipe. I watched Dave do this on TV and he put it all in together. Also he said you don't have to grease and flour the bundt if it is non stick. I didn't and I have never done this before. What and absolute disaster. No more receipes from "Dave Boy" for me. Are you really a chef?

This cake is very good with the revisions I made to some of the ingredients. I replaced all the oil with 1 cup of pumpkin puree. I used 1 tsp vanilla, 1/4 cup of warm water and I drained the apples before using them. I also sprinkled cinnamon over each layer of apples. The cake was moist, not greasy and not too heavy.

Loved it - my oven cooked it in 56 minutes and I only made two layers of apples not 3.
