These are just great. As close as sit gets to baked beans
back home in Texas. We used to always add mustard. I did
add jalapenos since we like the flavor of them and of course
    the spice.

Delicious, easy recipe. I tripled it for a large gathering and it disappeared.

This is a great and simple recipe, I have not served it to anyone who did not love them and I have made them for numerous occasions.

This recipe is the BEST!! Not your typical Boston Baked Beans, which are great, but these are just a little left of center. Big hit at the bar-b-que!! Just enough heat from the cayenne & sweet from the brown sugar.
I did drain off half the bacon fat. I used 4- 14.5oz. cans and mixed it up. 2 dk. red kidney, 1 black, 1 white. I also did 1 1/2 times the sauce YUM!!

I followed this recipe as written and they turned out great! The cayenne adds just the right kick without making them spicy. My dinner guests were impressed.

I followed the recipe exactly except I used white beans. I cooked them in my Corningware 3 quart pan. This is definitely a do over, but with all of that bacon fat probably not an often one. Thank you for the wonderful recipe.

Sooo much better than canned it's ridiculous!
I use tomato sauce or just puree some canned tomatoes for the "tomato puree."

I loved these, absolutely loved them and they were super easy to make too. They were even better the day after. I used a mix of beans (pinto, red kidney, and black and since I was cooking for vegetarians, I didn't put in the bacon (which would have made them even better. I HIGHLY recommend making these, so much better than canned. I'm about to make them again for a picnic. YUM, YUM!!!!

These beans are excellent! I usually chop the bacon finely and discard about half of the rendered bacon fat and the flavor does not lack at all. I also use a variety of canned beans to liven up the colors and textures. I usually use one can of black beans, one of pinto beans, one of light red kidney beans, and one of dark red kidney beans (all 14.5 oz cans. I also like my beans a little saucier so I increase the amount of sauce ingredients slightly. These beans go great with just about any barbeque item, or picnic fare, and I especially love them with the 'Beer Braised Pork Butt' recipe from the same episode that this beans recipe came from.
